Sorry I dont mean the bedroom tax. Must express self more clearly when using phone.

I mean that a water meter is good if you have more bedrooms than people living in a house?

Off water meters and on to boots...i have been really impressed with my ugly, mens rigger boots. I got stuck up to mid calf in wet clay and they held up well. Feet warm and dry. Ironically i think of them as an ugly tan, if they were from Boden doubtless i should view them as a delicious caramel colour. Marketing, hey?

I would post a pic but if XH identifies me he will probably wee in them next time he visits.

Ahhhh me understand now!!! Yeah from what I remember when I rang them to change, I paid for what they thought a three bed household would use so it was around £33 a month. And then they said that if other nearby households were using a lot of water, that all went towards how they calculate the typical rate - so she worked out my usage and it was £13 a month - a £20 saving! Gawd I jumped at it!!! And a couple of days a week I will use the showers at the gym as well in the morning so that saves further!!!

Even allowing for more dish washing than when I went out to work, it still seems to be very much more cost effective! It took a while for it to be done though - all kinds of admin c0ck-ups but I was impressed that they back-dated it for me

Water companies seem much more customer focused than power :T. I phoned up about something once (think it was to request free water saving stuff :D) and got chatting to the lady on the phone. She looked at my usage (I'm on a meter), declared there was a better tariff for me (didn't know such a thing existed!) and backdated it 6 months :kisses3:.

Oh definately... although I did have a long chat to the man at np0wer and he was the one who told me I would be better investing in the LED bulbs I have in the office and living room now (cost a fortune) but they draw down sooooo little power.

And when I rang to settle my bill and sort my tarriff, they were quite good - but I am about to declare war on StArbucks customer service... which should improve my morning mood quite nicely.

Changed my mind - just checked bill (just generated) and DD going up £8 :rotfl:. Usage will have been up as DS was at home so hopefully next year will go down again.

A better water tarrif?? Am I misreading??? Will investigate further!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

I had no idea there was such a thing either.

Been to get my headlamp fixed (£8). Collected scrip (£8) posted fleabay item and about to write a cheque for £15 for a deposit for the worst value school trip ever.

This afternoon going to try again with the water butt.

Water butt done. I shall now rejoice whenever it rains. Which is every day here.
  • Morning, half hoping the rain stops for you and half hoping your water butt fills up :rotfl:

What are you up to today with ponyplops ?

    Hello!
Today we need to fix the fence that blew down, tackle the mouldy sitting room wall, i plan to send DH out with DD and ponyplops so i can get housework done. This has the advantage that DD cant say she cant do things and she has to be independent, since DH just shrugs and tells her that she's the expert.
    Busy enough day planned!

How are you tackling your wall? My oh so lovely secure parcel box happily bounced rain down the back of it (a lot of it) and I too have a bit of a mouldy wall now. Now that it is getting a little drier (Ha!!!) I need to get my pet builder round to take a look but I have the dehumidifier on it and gave it a good wipe down with a cloth and all the gunk that had developed came off.
