Hello All
Sorry to hear that some are you are still coping with the snow. I am lucky here that although it has been cold not a flake has fallen here. Well done as well to those that are investing their energies in cleaning. After years of living with a muck magnet my house never needs much doing to it as I am obsessed with having a tidy house!
I have to agree with what most are have said here Bertman, although you want to pay off the debt asap it is best to be realistic over budgets as there is no room for any extra credit once you commit and I am sure most of us are guilty of the odd bit of overspending - I know I have been this month - and so to have a cushion of emergency funds is essential. I use my food and clothing budget to put a small amount of savings away each month so I do have a small amount of leeway on my overall budget.

Hi,
I'm new to this site, but joined for support with DMP and debt management I have read through many of the threads for DMP and feel encouraged about some of the feedback from a lot of users! I am looking into a DMP after completing a debt remedy with SC, recommendation was a DMP. Before seriously looking at this as a solution, I was wondering if any homeowners have had a trouble with a DMP - I don't have any secured debt and I am not in arrears with mortgage company but my biggest fear is and always has been that we could loose our home. Has anyone had experience in this aspect of DMP? I have read somewhere that creditors can ask you to sell your home etc or take you to court etc... Has this ever happened to anyone?
Many thanks

Hi and welcome
This is many peoples worry. Extremely rarely (I have only known it twice in the five years I have been reading here) they can apply for a 'charging order'. This means that IF YOU decided to sell your house to release equity you would have to pay the creditors back first before you used the money for anything else.
Hope that makes sense?

Hi fellow DMPers. Nothing much to report DMP wise. Have been paid and hoping for a better month but things haven't started well. Apart from OH's speeding fine another new tyre is required, the headlight bulb has gone and it is still blooming cold! The toilet seat broke and so did the mop bucket. Aldi are doing toilet seats so got one of those and as long as the mop bucket is broken it means the floor can't be washed. Suits me fine!DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

That's the spirit, don't let them grind you down.
Is OH out of the dog house yet?
A colleague tells me that there a few certains in life, death, tax and that if it has balls or tyres it's going to cost you!

Hi everyone - I was just checking out the thread on paying off your debts by Xmas 2013 but as mine are £36,000 + £6,000 tax bill there is no way that is going to happen.
I am just scanning papers ready to go across to Step Change to set up a DMP and feeling quite emotional !
I've always paid bills on time etc but struggling to make the monthly payments and now the HMRC refuse to agree that they made a mistake I need to pay that back also.
I was made redundant just before Xmas and fortunately back in work now but every day feels like a struggle. We do have a property overseas we are trying to sale but as it's been 3 years so far not hopeful that will happen any time soon.
My debts are with Barclaycard and M & S - I am really nervous about getting any CCJ's or orders against the house, so checking this thread for people's experiences so thanks everyone for sharing !0 -

Hmmm is OH out of the dog house yet? Just about. In order to avoid points on his licence he has to go on a speed aware course. (Still costs though). Another blip in the DMP journey but eventually we will get there!DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421
