Arrrggghh bloody HSBC! I'm not really sure how they interpret "account on hold"! Two letters regarding the CC today stating I've ignored attempts to contact me and all the usual threats. One from tesco too despite a letter last week accepting the repayment plan!

What's most annoying is that I've answered all the calls, it's THEM that put the 60 day hold on the account AND THEM that refused to take the SC reference. I'm really cross now.

Do you think I have grounds for sending a harassment letter at this point?

    Kate x

As P_B_P says - park it for now and just take some time out. The letter from Tesco is likely just one of those automated ones and often you'll find the dept dealing with the DMP is separate from the one generating those letters. My advice is to simply file those ones and eventually they'll stop.

Can't understand why HSBC refuse to take the reference, but if SC has it in hand leave it with them. You could send a letter (recorded delivery) and restate the position that you are in a DMP Ref x and again leave it at that.

If it's any help it took a few months for our DMP to settle into a routine with our creditors and letters did seem to cross over. Now all I receive are statements which come with a standard bulletin about seeking advice if struggling with debt!

Anyway, just chill out this evening and tend to this when you feel better able.

Great attitude and some super advice Kate :T

When they play silly so-and-sos with me, I like to counter their security questions with some of my own. It generally works a treat :rotfl:

I like your style TTFM... might have a go at that myself next time there's a need :D

Have you ever watched Phonejacker? He does a skit where he talks with an African accent and phones random numbers asking for security questions, account numbers etc and sees who's daft enough to respond, or what their reactions are.

I did this with Natwest once for a laugh when they called, I've never known them to put the phone down on me so quickly!

    Debt-free and Proud!
I am very sorry that I have not replied sooner, I have been online and reading but haven't been able to post.

Firstly I would like to say thank you for all of the kind and wise words that you have shared, it gave me a lot of reassurance and comfort.

I also just wanted to post an update saying that I went in to a lot of denial and spent a long time wrestling with myself to phone SC. I finally phoned them and the advisor couldn't have been nicer to me - I explained about my circumtances with the sick leave and the reduced income. The advisor said that he left a note on my file and said that I had done exactly the right thing. The reproposals will be going out next week so that is when the computer madness will begin, eeekkk.

I am feeling really relieved right now, I am going to finish off my letters and get them sent off ASAP!

  • Hi everyone, I had a lightbulb moment recently, and officially started my DMP with Stepchange today after sending over my details etc. Cancelled all my creditor dds and set my DD for SC up, and am feeling good about it. Have set my diary up, and I'm going to stroll through this thread and the rest of the forum to see what experiences people have had with their DMPS and my creditors

    :T Well done you :T

You'll find oodles of useful info on this thread, everyone is fantastic and incredibly supportive through the good times and bad. These folks definitely kept me sane at the beginning and helped me through some really dark times. Now almost one year in and many more to go I feel much more positive and have high hopes for a debt free future.
