    Hi monkey -

When I applied I was told over the phone it was set to 37.5 hours a week at 7.30 & bonuses depending on sales. My contract literally just says "working for (company name) and then a load of legal jargon about holiday allowances and stuff. I genuinely can't find the bit SC want that just says, yep, this is where/how often/how much I work for, now let's get this DMP rolling. :/

Good idea RE nationwide - problem being trustees have both my passport and drivers license and haven't got around to sending it back so I am id-less. Good job I'm not driven to drink because I wouldn't be able to buy any!

Ok, I've taken all of what you have just said into consideration and... @rse...

So 37.5 hrs at £7.30 will mean you'll be bringing home about £1085 pcm I think but obviously it's not a good idea to put that down in case it's wrong! I'd contact SC to discuss this further, it might be a good idea to make token offers for the first month until you get paid and know what you'll have coming in (others on this forum may be able to offer other/better advice).

    Hi all,

I hope that it is ok for me to jump in here - I am a long time lurker! I started my DMP with Stepchange in August 2012 after getting in to £10,633.89 of debt.

I believe that the stress of debt was a contributing factor in me having a nervous breakdown and being diagnosed with depression and anxiety. On a cheerier note I have cleared £6547.00 of debt and hoping to be debt free in February 2015!

I hope that I will be able to offer support here, please feel free to ask me any questions!

    Lucy x

    Hi Lucy,

That is a good portion of debt cleared, and this year will fly by until you are a debt free babe:beer:

One last question from me now, Tesco Credit Card underwrite themselves now don't they?

It's just we bank with RBS who also have our mortgage, but this is all we have with them.

I've not bothered about swapping accounts before starting the DMP because of this.

However one of biggest credit card debts is with Tesco and I know these used to be RBS but I'm sure they fell out and got letters in the past few years saying Tesco Bank are now self Underwriting?

Or am I making this up?

    Hi BB

I'm really not sure, if you call the call centre, would they tell you? Or try searching the call centre numbers on google to see what it links to? Maybe try posting on one of the other threads to see if someone over there knows.

Super frustrated - been in the process of setting up my DMP for a good month now - have got a cash card account with Nationwide that has promised to do a partial switch (all my direct debits/standing orders) within 7 working days. I applied on Thursday and was accepted but now I'm still sat here waiting for my paperwork to be sent out to me so I can actually find out what my sort code/account number are and put them on my DMP paperwork.

To add to this, I start a new job tomorrow, and I received my contract, but it doesn't seem to say anything about how many hours I'll be working (37.5) and for what rate. So I don't know if SC would accept that as evidence for employment but equally I don't have anything else to show them.

    Help :(

    Hi Milocat,

Lots of changes for you with a new-job , new bank account and a DMP. The setting up pre DMP does seem endless, but it's worth a little time to get it right.

Regards the job contract, oh and well done and good luck with it, but is it a reputable company, I'd be a bit careful if the contract doesn't say how many hours you will be working or at what rate of pay. I'm not an expert in such things but I believe this can affect how you get paid holidays and sickness pay etc. maybe take advice from CAB.

Happy DMPers, have a great week.

    Hi

I had Tesco, RBS and Mint who I believe were the same family. All cards treated the same. About 18-24 months ago Tesco started behaving a little differently in terms of wording in the interest section and insisting on more regular budget reviews. All three defaulted at 3 months and put interest to 0%. I think you will be ok.

Thanks both, I think I found out on the credit card board.

It used to be RBS but they split and Tesco Bank now run it themselves.

Debt free date 25/11/2015 - Made It!
  • Head still spinning waiting for this thing to start, but the more I think about it the more I'm determined to get straight and pay as little interest as possible.

I was bizarrely feeling a little guilty posting my token payments this morning (recorded of course) but then got thinking when the banks crashed in 2008 and interest rates went to an all time low what did credit card companies do, jack their rates to totally ridiculous levels.

They have had my pound of flesh , apart from a little overdraft all our debt is to credit cards. Don't get me wrong, I spent the money and I need to pay it back, but I've no chance with the interest mounting each month (my non working snowball tells me it is currently £717 a month ).

Roll on my new DMP life :T

Congratulations on the latest figures TTFTM, that is an inspiration to us all how it can be done!

My trouble is I would rather have my little treats than pay my debt off any quicker, which is very naughty I know.
