Good luck with it all Suseka, if you ever need a rant we're all open ears here!
  • Haven't been on here for ages.

Started in February 2011 with £23,500 debt. Pleased to report that, after 2 and a half years, or thereabouts, and a complete shafting from DCM money solutions to the tune of £4500, we have managed to get our debt down to approx. £6000. We should be reasonably clear in a years' time. Would have preferred not to have had to take out a car loan, but needs must- I needed a car for work. Light is appearing.....

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts FTR and HH.

This thread is so supportive, whether it be debt related or other and, at least in my book, it makes a tremendous difference.

My sister is being held in a medically induced coma whilst the medical folks try and work out whats wrong. She collapsed with severe stomach pains last Thurs and since has undergone two major surgeries to remove a variety of tumours. She is now on dialysis and her liver is also in trouble.... worst is not knowing why this has happened or what it means for her future....

Makes you realise that life can change in a heartbeat and makes my money situation rather insignificant!

Anyway... I'm hoping for the best and... once again thank you :)

Gosh Suseka, sending best wishes for your sister. Hope she makes a full recovery. What a nightmare for you all x

So proud of myself.. took my first call from a creditor... I missed a call this morning and googled the number which gave me hint it may have been M & S.. and when they rang I picked it up...:)

Very nice man, advised me I was late in paying albeit only one day, token cheque had been cashed. not sure where my letter went as he didn't appear to have it so I gave him my SC ref number etc, and he was lovely and said they would hold the account until 3 Nov... phew...

Its such a mixture of emotions... have 3 more letters to post off today..

Not sure I will feel as brave the next time the phone rings.. but who knows.. one small step at a time...

Last dd's go out the joint account tomorrow then I can hand deliver my close account letter. They have very kindly just upped our overdraft limit to 4K.... thanks but no thanks.. just want to get confirmation that's closed and then I can sort the other creditors out..

Hi Suseka, Just want to send my best wishes to you as well and hoping your sister makes a full recovery. It certainly does put life into perspective when things like this happen.

You are right this is a very supportive thread and I think we are all very grateful for the help and support we have received here.

Well done on tackling your debt mothermercury, sorry to hear you had a bad experience with one of those nasty fee taking companies. Must be a good feeling to be seeing the end of the debt tunnel:D

We should all celebrate our victories, big or small. So let's hear from anyone who has paid off a debt. Won a battle with a creditor. Managed to get a great bargain. Any good news and we will be there to say well done :j

Bad news and we are here for support too because that is what this thread is all about. :)

:hello: Morning everyone. I have been a bit slack trying to sort out the problem of Halifax still charging outrageous interest on OH's CC. I sent a message to Step Change via the website and I am sure it replied that I would get an answer to my query in 24 hours. Well a week later still no reply so I telephoned them. Yes I can split our debts and keep all my debts and all joint debts with Step Change and just have OH's debts on a self managed plan. However to do this I will have to close down my current plan and and start a new one.

I am willing to do this but it means I have got to do some sorting out and this month is going to be so busy, a wedding this weekend and visitors for the following two weekends after and working full time inbetween. Plus I am really struggling with the money this month as my rent, electric and oil bills have all gone up so I do need to reassess my plan anyway to incorporate all these changes. It will probably mean that my payments will have to be decreased, which I didn't really want to do especially as I had to make a reduced payment recently to cover the cost of the car repairs.

Well I guess this is all part of the exciting DMP journey:)
