  • Hey guys
Thanks for the advice so far, I noticed HH you mentioned that SC aren't great at getting interest frozen? Is this your experience guys? I'm concerned that I go to them and they don't manage to stop interest?
starting a journey I can't wait to complete...

Reading 'agirlcalledjack' really puts my stupid & wasteful overspending into some perspective!

Don't beat yourself up. Forwards not backwards and you have started your new chapter already :)

  • I just wanted to say a welcome to all the newbies and good luck with the DMP Journey. There has been some great advice to go with one of the free charities at the beginning whilst you get used to a DMP. I'm with SC but others are just as happy with Payplan, either one is a good choice.

I think most of us on here have found each of us have been treated differently by the same creditors and there is always plenty of advice on how to deal with issues that come up as the DMP progresses. I would say have a read back over some of the older pages and if there are any questions then don't be afraid to ask.

Wisdom comes from experience. Experience is often a result of lack of wisdom.
  • Just a little update from me, the IVA is progressing nicely and hopefully now entering the final stages so a few more weeks and I will know if it's a yes or no.

However whilst waiting it has given me the chance to play with a new DCA. Pointless call number 2 today that involved a long moan from me about ringing work, why were they asking me about my IVA company when they have the details because I wrote to them and no I can not afford any more than a token payment.

I'm seeing how many calls I get before they set the Rottweiler of the office onto me - not that it will make an difference as they have just encountered a seasoned pro who is used to dealing with DCA's - that will screw up their performance targets :D

Thank you. It is impossible to convey how it good it feels to be out of debt, especially when I look back to how we used to live. With regard to your question; We began our DMP in June 2009, our situation changed over the years, as it does, my wife got a low paid job, i got a promotion with an increase in salary, the kids required different things, the boiler broke, we couldn't afford a holiday, we did loads of car boot sales and selling on ebay etc, the debt reduced to a point where a very small inheritence meant we could make F&F offers. Stepchange looked after the negotiating and we paid the remaining £8000 off for about £4300. The only creditor who wouldn't accept an offer was paid off on Monday.

Now we are going to put any extra money into our house and paying off the mortgage.

The disturbing fact is that the week we paid off the majority of our creditors we both started receiving junk mail advertising pre-approved loans and credit cards. The banks, credit cards and loan companies are scum.

What a great post, it does show that it can be done. We are still in the very first stages of our DMP. We have just completed our first year and have a way to go yet. But rather than the 10 years that SC are quoting we might be able to do it in half the time if we can do some F&F's with our debts after this time.
    Well done!!!
    Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35

    Hi everyone,

I posted on the dfw board by mistake, I think..,

Can any of you kind souls give me some advice. I had my annual review with payplan in April and was able to slightly increase my offer. All creditors acceptedthe revised offer. Then I looked at the payplan website 2 months later and found that whilst I had paid my increased payment to pp, they had still been paying the old amount to creditors,

Then had a letter from barcl saying I hadn't paid anything for 60 days and regardless of whether I may have been paying pp they were transfering the debt to a dc.

I lodged a complaint with pp who thenn re sent my offer but now one of my barclays debts who previously accepted have now rejected? ! Plus the other barclays debt sent to buchanan clark and wells has also been rejected. When I spoke to bcw they said they would deal with pp and just accept the offer?!

So pp mistake has caused 2 creds accepting the same offer 2 months ago to now decline it. Pp have now sent the shortfall to all creds.

I was lucky for the last 3 years now its gone pear shaped and am worried, my mum is really sick and dh no job.

    :(

    Good morning fellow DMP'ers :)

Quick update from me as we have a milestone target celebration in the TTFTM household today :D

18 months since we started our DMP, we have gone from the £80,000s, down through the £70,000s, £60,000s and £50,000s and today I am delighted to announce we are now officially in the £40,000s :j

Sounds mad to say I am happy we owe approximately £49,700 but I am delighted :T

How did you manage to pay off your debts so quick? Are you with SC?
Started DMP last year with SC with 73k debts, year after it's now 64k. Wanted to pay off my small debts and would like to offer f&f offer to creditors but I don't know how to go about it. Do I need to get SC involve? I am concern that they won't allow me to pay off my small debts as it is against treating creditors fair and equal. Please advise.....

Sorry to hear about this. Get your paperwork together showing increased payment etc. Also ask PP for account of what happened in writing. Have you lodged 'formal' complaint to PP? Given their stuff up will they help resolve the issues with the companies? I'd then write with all paperwork to companies and ask for a resolution of you will have no choice but to go to FSA.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on

  • Morning all from HH

Still excited on payday mornings, especially when there is money left over from the month before:). I have paid all creditors, my DMP balance is now just under 13k (£12 999). Really pleased given I started at £59 214 and with first months interest went to £60 516. Hoping next month to hit 80% paid off and be done in 10 months.

    Have a good day all
