Hi folks, can I have some advice please?

Barclaycard started to recharge interest in May. We rang them up and explained that we're on a DMP with step Change and they agreed to freeze interest again for 5 months. Sure enough the June statement came in, interest refunded etc. However today the July statement has arrived and interest has been charged again!
I have rung Step Change and the advisor suggested a letter to the complaints dept. I'm not sure what to write though, can anyone advise?

FTR I have had a look at the NEDCAB website. Whoever put it together did a very thorough job. I am sure we will be using some of the tools on there to help our situation. Thank you

    Hi Everyone,
Just swinging by to catch up on everyone's news. Well done on being debt free Antonic!

I have a question please: We currently have a mortgage with NRAM and are considering selling to rent a bigger house as we would like to try for another baby. We had the house valued last week and have 10k MORE equity than we thought we would have which is making us wonder if we could actually buy a bigger house. NRAM don't have a banking licence now so can't assist with it so we called a local whole of market broker and he said it's impossible to get a mortgage if you're on a DMP. Is this true??? Our house is worth £115k, our balance is £97k (inc sec loan) and we're looking to spend £135k on a new house. Is it ridiculous to even think we could do that?

Thanks for any information/experience in this area.

    Hi everyone.

I made a F&F offer to Barclaycard of 40% but they are saying they won't accept anything below 90, which is very disappointing. They have also charged me full interest on my account since I started with Payplan, which I understand is their right but none of the other companies have done this. I feel I will never get out of this.

Really losing the plot this week

    Hi,
I have dmp with CCcs and have been running smoothly for a year. Until 4 weeks ago when one of my creditor (nationwide) wrote to me to say that they are taking legal action. I tried to stop it by contacting them and discussing options to prevent this.they want me to increase my monthly repayment to them but when I contacted CCcs about this, what they told me was that I cannot increase my payment to nationwide just because they want it.
To be honest I can afford the demand from nationwide of increasing my monthly payment of around £20 on top of my dmp payment to them but I don't know how to go over it. I left it that way until 3 days ago when I received a claim form from the court. This now incurred £120 as court cost added to my balance from Nationwide. They are proceeding with ccj against me.
Is there anyway that I can stop the ccj as I don't want to have a difficulty in remortgaging next year. Moreover, ccj will be a nasty thing to have on your credit file for six years.
My budget with CCcs is due for renewal anytime and I'm just concerned that if my payment go down, my creditors won't welcome it.
I am thinking of asking a partial and final settlement from my nationwide credit card debt but I don't know if it will stop the ccj proceedings by doing this. My debts with them is around 3000k. How much do you think will they take as partial and final settlement? Can I do this without informing CCcs and what will be the consequences relating to my dmp? If I make this offer to nationwide and we both agreed with the settlement, will my other creditors find this out? If so, would my other creditors take the chance of applying ccj against me because I am favouring other creditors? I ve got 12 creditors at the moment and have paid almost 8000 to my dmp over 1 year.
Please help. I need some advise.

I think that as your already on a DMP you *may* find it impossible to get a decent remortgage next year because your credit record is shot already BECAUSE your on a DMP and its also shot for 6 years anyway.

Are Nationwide pursuing a CCJ because they want a charging order against your property ?

When you do your annual renewal with CCCS if your income is reduced you may have to reduce your payments, but you cant pay your creditors what you havent got and you are still allowed to live !.

If you go down the route of settling outside the DMP with Nationwide, I am sure CCCS will pick this up when payments start getting returned and you may find your DMP with CCCS being closed because you are supposed to treat all creditors equally.

Hope this helps, please post back if you have any more questions.

Thanks antonic. Nationwide wants to attach my debt to the property . Will it make a difference if I can avoid CCJ?
My review is due this month and because I received a claim form, CCCs wants me to be very accurate with my budget as this will transpire in my claim form.
I am just managing with my current repayment and although I had a little increase with my wages, my child's expenses will go up as well due to his starting in new school with expensive uniforms, school meals and contribution.i want to make allowances for myself in case I need extras.
Will it favour me if I settle my nationwide balance? If CCcs closed my account, will I be able to change dmp provider. How does it impact on my creditors?

    Hi gamblebee,
I too have received the same letter as you from Nationwide threatening CCJ and a charging order on our property. I phoned CCCS on Monday as we were due our review in Sep anyway and the guy I spoke to was really helpful, he said just send the papers back to the court and then go to the hearing for the CO and after that Nationwide will just have to sit it out until we've paid up. As others have said your credit rating's shot for 6 years anyway and the CO only ensures the creditor gets paid IF we sell the house.

    Hi savvykaz,
I do appreciate your response. I know that most advisors are really nice at CCcs but sometimes I'm still in doubt on whether they are really up to helping us. They don't care and could not help if extra charges are being added onto our debts by creditors.
If I send the claim form back, does it mean I need to attend court hearing? That's my worry because I really don't want to appear at the court to justify my finances.

I too didn't really want to attend court as I feel really ashamed at the situation we're in and when I said this to Andrew at CCCS he said you don't have to go but it works in your favour if you do! He said it's really informal, just you, a judge and a rep from Nationwide; it's just to put a signature and a seal on the CO and it's over in 5-10 mins.
