Have just come home to a letter from stepchange (start 01/07) to say the The Nationwide have rejected the dmp offer...they do say in the letter not to worry and that they will continue to pay them the set amount anyway, but that's easier said than done, particularly as we have 3 debts with them:eek:

No, no reason given but apparently it's not unusual for creditors to do this. Thy can't have what I haven't got and we'll be paying £700 per month towards £38,000 so a reasonable amount compared to what some people can offer.

I wish we hadn't gotten ourselves into this mess but all we can do now is try to get out of it!

Stepchange have suggested a DMP so I would love to know what people think about these.

My dad has enough savings to easily cover my debt yet having seen his reaction to my mum I would rather take the DMP course

I have never regretted going onto a DMP with Step Change. It has been a real lifesaver and I only wish I had done it earlier before I made some very big financial mistakes, which I now can't undo and will have to live with. But hey ho I live in numpty mansions (delusions of grandeur) so what do I expect:D

I too have family who could bail me out but I didn't want to involve them. I didn't want them to know how inept I had been and I didn't want to be in debt to them either. I went down that road some years ago and it caused a lot of problems with other family members who didn't like it, and I didn't want a repeat of that situation.

I'd say go for it. We'll all be here to pitch in with any help or advice. HH & her twin Ms. TTFTM are brilliant and very knowledgeable.

Welcome aboard csan, you will find a whole wealth of support & advice hear.

I can personally recommend a DMP ( I did mine with Payplan), because this month, after 90 months, I have finished my DMP with Payplan.

In the 90 months I have paid of £24000 worth of debt.

Approaching Payplan was the best thing I ever did back in 2005.

My creditors accepted the proposals and I never missed a payment.

I wont lie to you and say its easy because it isnt, but with the support of my family I got there.

You have taken the hardest step in facing upto and dealing with your debts.

    Good luck !

:hello: Hey BL hope all is well with you and Mr. BL. How is your DMP going?

Who is this BL person? ;)

Things are ok, ish - we're rumbling along....we've had a couple of months where things have got seriously tight at the end of the month but so far we've coped.

had a bit of trauma at the beginning of the year as the car failed it's MOT and would have cost too much (more then the car's worth) to repair so we've had to borrow some money from the bank of mum and dad. Luckily though it's a long term, when we can afford to repay, sort of deal

Hi guys, it's been a couple of months and whilst it's nice to see the payments going out and the debt going down, the scary letters have started to arrive!

Has anyone got any experience with a company called Resolvecall? They've written to me saying that Natwest have passed my details onto them and if I do not respond they will send a contact manager to my house. I'm three months into a plan with StepChange and as far as I am concerned Natwest has (begrudgingly) accepted my payments. SC advise that this is standard procedure and I am to ignore the letter - easier said than done. Has anyone had any dealings with Resolvecall?
£11,673  finally owning up to my problems, battling to defeat my depression and my debt before it swallows me whole.
