Thanks goodness for the bank of Mum and Dad!! Hopefully things will get better, keep ploughing on BR..........
Hehehe x
Yeah, it was 'only' £1,500 but we don't have that sort of money and it would have meant not paying the creditors for months....I just hope that this one doesn't pack in any time soon! Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568
Oct 2012 = Current debt: £40,548.93
Oct 2013 = Current debt: £39.054.70

£700 a month aint bad at all. Were paying that off almost £70,000 and our creditors accepted.
Your right, they cannot have what you donot
Interestingly we are paying £600 a month for a £60k debt, this will rise though once we have paid off the amount owed to the lovely HMRC for a backlog of PAYE when we had our business.
Things going OK at the moment, all creditors have stopped interest and all have defaulted us... A few have now passed the debts to other companies now, NatWest were the first closely followed by MBNA.
We are only approaching our first year now of the DMP and already we are sick of being skint but we have a long road ahead of us.Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35Now £27,470.20 :T57% of debts cleared:beer:0 -
Hi all,
Have not been on the forum for a while, have been a little poorly and still suffering from the rather nasty symptoms of IBS-D (no need to explain further methinks).
Welcome to all newbies (although I still count myself as one) and good to see the advice from the more experienced DFWs continues to flow.
We've finally sorted the car issue out. Company car now sitting in the drive and HMRC have provided that 'ever so necessary' tax code. SC have already redrafted the SOA and a new monthly DMP payment of £1,300 has been agreed, so they are now contacting all creditors and the first payment will go on 1st July.
Its been a long wait to get things up and running, which has caused its own level of anxiety, but we're almost there now and I'm relieved.
So - how will I know what has been offered to each creditor. Is this something SC tells us, or do we wait until we receive statements or letters from creditors.LBM: March 2013 / DMP Start: 1 July 2013 / 14 Creditors

Hello All
I hope all is going ok with everyone and good to hear that you are finally able to sort out your DMP Suseka, good luck with it and I hope it all goes well.
Things have been fairly steady in my DMP world, 1st Credit have finally acknowledged they are now dealing with the BH account only 2 months after the last letter and still not sure what the Co-op are up to but they keep cashing the payments.
My only battle left is to get FP to tell me how much I owe. Simples you may think as surely they would want me to start sorting this out but its seems phone calls and letters aren't making a lot of difference at the moment, so another wait and see. I did however get my breakdown of the house repo which made interesting reading of just what they charged for, so not much change out of a £25k loss due to ex from hell and that is just the first charge.
Oh well it's only money and they aren't getting it all so I haven't bothered to get into a fight about the charges - although I was seriously tempted to tell them how the spell the word plumber. I think the £24 yard maintenance fee may have been moving the rubbish bin back into the boundary of the property as I couldn't see anything else done on the EA pictures.
Wisdom comes from experience. Experience is often a result of lack of wisdom.0 -
Now 2 payments in with StepChange, phonecalls/letters etc seem to have settled down bar Aqua but I knew they'd rejected the offer of payment!! (And bt choose to refuse is being used on them!! lol) Am sleeping a little bit better and am currently decluttering the house and ebaying all the unwanted goods in the house to try and bring a few extra pennies in!
Hope all the other newbies (and oldies) are doing ok too xx0 -
I feel lucky that we are not being pestered by phone calls.
All my payments have been accepted except L1oydstsb. Payplan have sent me another letter to send to them so fingers crossed they will now accept it.
We are not yet sure how our month will pan out as we have bits of income arriving into our account at five different times. That in itself makes keeping an eye on things tricky.
S4ntander didn't reply to our letter but have frozen interest. Has anyone else experienced this? And DH received an offer of a platinum card from them.More fire fodder.

Hello
I haven't posted in awhile, but have been lurking, just haven't felt compelled to post anything...
Anyway, just to say my first payment has gone to StepChange yesterday, I'm paying 136 pounds per month to all my creditors, and when I saw my payment had cleared I felt quite good about myselfI had to keep delaying the start of my plan for a good few months because of financial issues and things happening but now I feel like it's starting, even though it's just the first payment. I kinda feel back in control somewhat....and also I'm trying to do the "do I really need it or do I just want it" with money as I have to really tighten my reins and finally at 36 years old, I'm gonna have to learn to budget properly and just stop spending so much and be smart about it. You live and learn and it's difficult but not impossible.

Hi all
csan - welcome! what 2spicy, antonic, and growurown have said pretty much sums it up. A DMP is a good thing, you can pay off your debts without going completely skint. There's loads of people on this board to help, and of course StepChange. You're never alone, and owing money is not the end of the world. There is a way out, and you'll find yourself better off.
Yeah, 2spicy the point about the SOA is right. I got that a bit wrong myself, and may need to re look at it. I should have inflated it a bit more, things a little too tight.
keepingcalm - I find rejecting a reasonable DMP offer pretty daft. I mean, how else are they going to get what they're owed? The courts won't support them in any other action. Do what SC say and keep the payments going. They'll see sense eventually.
cocoa1990 - If your debt has been passed on then SC will be passing the payments on. Write to Resolvecall telling them you are on the DMP and that will have to suit them. Tell them you will not speak to anybody calling in person. You don't have to.
I myself am 3 payments in on my DMP. All creditors are acknowledging the payments and I've had zero hassle from anybody. Lucky me! I'm now going to check that no-one is charging interest or adding charges to what I owe.
I think they are all ok bar my old current account overdraft. HSBC may be charging interest on that, because the balance is within the agreed limit. So that will be one I'll have to contact.
There may be one off 'default charge's applied by a couple of the creditors. Would it be reasonable for me to argue the toss over those?
I shall go investigate now.
Good luck all.
Onwards and upwards!DO NOT PANIC.
The future is looking good now...0 -
Hi everyone - DMPers new and old :hello:
Just popped in to say hi and it's looks like everyone is doing well which is great news :T
I am incredibly busy with work at the moment and haven't been here much but it's fantastic to see all the mutual support, which is what this thread is all about
We are trying to save hard for our endowment shortfall fund. Am still waiting for the annual statement but it looks like we need to find approximately £9000 by next June. It sounds very scary but then I keep thinking if we can find it, it means we will be mortgage free this time next year and then that money can go towards the debt so it won't actually add any time to our original DFD. Am keeping my fingers firmly crossed but if it doesn't work out, watch for plan b
Every now and then I like to look up an old post that I have saved and offer it to everyone as some of the best advice I have ever read on these forums:
1. You're not alone
2. There's nothing you can tell CCCS/Payplan that they haven't seen before
3. There's more to life than money, you need to get a handle on this to stop it happening again, but don't let debt ruin your life. Understand why you got into debt, and plan a way out of it, and feel proud that you are facing it head on.
Thanks as always to "thatsean" for this message, it really says it all. With that in mind and the help, advice, experience and support offered on this thread, you will be in a great position.
