  • Having setup my DMP I am now starting to have second thoughts. I wasn't too worried about CCJ's and charging orders but I have just learnt that they can now force someone to sell their property.

Not sure I've got the stomach for it anymore lol !

Has anyone else on here had a charging order placed on their property or am I worrying unduly ?

For most of the persons with a DMP there is no other way to choose. If you have the second thoughts you must ask to your self what other choice is available.
  • Hi

If that's the monthly interest you just multiply by 12 so 6.02%.

Re FOS the easiest and their preferred way is just to ring them up. It's very easy, not intimidating at all, they have a standard template they work through with you on the phone and then they sent to you and your preditors. Easy peasy.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks so much HH, I like to consider myself a sensible and smart lady but unfortunately the finances bamboozle me. I suppose that 6% isn't the end of the world, but it's 6% more than anyone else is getting.
I will contact CallQuest once more about freezing them and include in there that I am going to seek advice from the FOS. Thanks for the fantastic advice (as always on here)

    Hi All,
Could anyone give me an average ball park figure for F+F on £30k.

If old man plays ball could possibly have 8-10k to offer.

    Thanks

Thanks for all the replies guys!

So, I called Wonga today and spoke to a very helpful guy who gave me my account number and agreed to cancel the CPA and freeze all interest for 38 days whilst SC get in touch.
I've got 1 more account number to get hold of with Mr Lender - does anyone have any experience of dealing with them?
New bank account has been set up and all DD's and CPA's have been cancelled with my old bank.

Tomorrow I will be sending off all my info to SC and all my letters (with token payments for June) to all my creditors.

When sending the letters to the creditors should I just use the template that SC sent me or should I add in a couple of lines as follows:

'Please accept a token payment of £5 for my next payment until step hage have been in touch.
I request that all communication is either through step change or in writing.'

I'm not great at writing letters so any advice is more than welcome!

    Thanks again!

I was supposed to pay Mr Lender today, haven't heard a peep out of them! I got an email from them after I had sent my letter advising I was going onto a DMP and they said for StepChange to contact them ASAP in order to prevent any charges. StepChange will have contacted them that week, so I presume they've taken notice.
I got my account number by logging into my account on their website, don't know if you had to ring them when you took out the loan, but I did and that's when I had to give them a password, which was the one I use to log in.

This is a tough one. In the first couple of weeks of our DMP, NatWest overdraft fees took us over our OD limit and NatWest starting charging daily fees, a monthly charge and higher interest. We spoke to CCCS and they told us to just leave it but when I worked it out, it meant that after all the charges, our first DMP payment would not even bring us within our limit and it would carry on like that. In the end, I disobeyed CCCS and paid in enough money to bring us in the limit and stop the charges.

Lloyds TSB on the other hand, without being asked, temporarily increased my OD limit to stop this happening. I generally do not have a good word to say for Lloyds TSB but this was a good gesture on their part.

Thank you, my old account is with Lloyds TSB. I'm not sure my first DMP payment will bring me back under my limit, and I don't want them to keep adding more charges. I might just pay the amounts in, hopefully I can manage it or it'll sit over limit until the first DMP payment near the end of the month. Not sure if they'll temporarily increase my limits, I've never gone over before but they've not increased them for me in the past since they got to the amount they're at!

Hi all, not been around for a couple weeks things have been quite hectic, but reasonably quiet on the dmp front, got another default which in a twisted way us good news i suppose, least it starts the clock ticking?!
Struggling abit with budget, british gas have kindly increased our payments by £22 a month and virgin media increased by £7, not a massive dent but OH has had overtime ban too so the combination has meant we need to make cutbacks, im reluctant to change budget with dmp as creditors have settled down and accepted plan without too much trouble so i dont want to unsettle them again. Hope everyone else is plodding along nicely and the sun is shining today which always lifts ny spirits x

I think the fewer changes you make the better I agree. There will be a point you need to make revisions though so make sure you give it some welly then! Well done and I hope things get easier for you.

My only experience with them has been awful. They are my worst creditor and I owe them the least. Extremely unhelpful and hassled me a lot. Probably not what you wanted to hear :( sorry

Well done in getting the nationwide one settled at 36%

I had post office cc, they took 80% agreed over the phone then confirmed in writing before I sent them the cheque, they are Bank of Ireland based in Belfast, and were really pleasant and polite on the phone, not at all traumatic, my defaults were not very old I don't know if that might make a difference. I don't think they replied to my original letter offering 40%.

Good luck with getting it sorted :)
