I received a large PPI claim in my account earlier today :j then contacted my DMP company to let them know and say if I can pay my creditors directly. It was ok with the company (Money Debt and Credit) so duly spoke to each creditor and settled in full except Barclaycard (long story). It was like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

    Happy happy joy!!! :j

That is brilliant news - very well done :j

Now start thinking about the all the great things you can do in your debtfree future :D

I am here because of a problem with our toilet cistern! That was what flooded and started off the whole catalogue of disasters which led to our debt mountain :(

Hi all I'm a newbie to this but had great advice a few weeks back, and am now nearly finished setting up StepChange for the 10th June.
They've said for me to write the letter to my creditors and bank to stop the automatic payment.
For the life of me I can't find Lloyds TSB email address on online banking, so do I just print out the form (a few times, hand write the account numbers) and then take it to my bank??

Sorry if that's obvious to others. thanks for any help

    Hi experts out there,
Tried to sign up for Noddle - not interested in my credit score, but decided it was time to check out when (and if) defauts have been added - but when I had to put in card details for id purposes it would not accept Maesto. (this is only card I have nowadays). What now?

In my Saturday post I received a pre-approved guaranteed acceptance Vanquis credit card.:rotfl: Before it went into shredder I cast my eye over small print to find that they would check with credit ref agencies before giving me a card. Perhaps they ought to check with such agencies before sending out stuff - just a thought.
To all those having car problems - hope everything gets sorted out.
    Have a good evening everyone

    Hey all,

Great to hear things are moving on for most folks, and my thoughts go out to those dealing with various 'extra' and rather unwanted bills. Odd how inanimate objects can cause such complications.

I've had a pretty crap day... nothing debt related, but dealing with some unpleasant people at work. I work with academics and some of them talk to me as if they've just scrapped me off their shoe! Seriously don't need that on top of everything else.

Anyways - good news, OH has an opportunity to do a bit of overtime, only until they replace a member of staff. Also, a friend of ours has offered a bit of extra work here and there... so when this finally gets up and running, we can hopefully handle those unexpected bills.

That cistern has a lot to answer for then! We think we just need a new washer bit in the ball valve, hopefully a fairly cheap fix.

At least you got the bill down and that's what the emergency fund is for at the end of the day.:(

Yes a lot of academics have never worked in the real world and live in their academic bubbles. I know cos I'm married to one! I have to say though he has worked in the real world for many years before going into academia and would never treat anyone like that.

Good news on the overtime. Always good to have some financial back up!

    Hi vampire-girl :hello:

If you have online banking, you can stop your payments using that, cancelling DDs and SOs etc is easy and that's the way I did all of mine.

Do you have a new account set up away from your debts? If so, I set up each new DD on the new account and cancelled it on the old account immediately afterwards.

Hope this is useful but shout out if you need more help :)
