    Debt-free and Proud!
We are having a nightmare with our car too. £670 so far this month, another £400 to go for tyres and then we still need the MOT.

Our MOT is due next month and the car has just clocked up 100,000 miles. It is a diesel but with at least another two years to go on the DMP I have to say it is a worry:(

Lots of us seem to be in the same situation re cars and it is a huge worry. We are just about to hit 180,000 and while we have been told it should last to 250K, I am a little doubtful to say the least :(

On a more optimistic note, I have good news from creditors. I asked Lloyds TSB to default me on 2 accounts back in January and they agreed but I am still waiting. Yesterday I got the first official default notice and the FOS called me to tell me it should be sorted now. M&S have defaulted me this week and confirmed yesterday that interest is now frozen until the end of the debt. :T

BOS have been messing OH around and we are still waiting to hear if they have accepted I&E and frozen interest again, after reintroducing it this month. They will be hearing from the FOS, if they don't

Weather is dreadful here but hope it doesn't spoil everyone's weekend. Have a good one :D

    Yippee

Ms TTFTM you have done fantastically well and especially with Lloyds and M&S, I am in awe.

Re cars, essential expense even in SC eyes so folks don't be frightened to renegotiate DMP payment with them to allow you to save more for additional repairs or next purchase. I know we all want to debt bust we need to survive too.

I have been lucky all through my DMP, as I can commute to work by public transport AND my Civil Service employer also provides an interest free loan for me to buy my annual travel pass.

This year it was £1152 pa, when I renew in September it will be £1200.00 pa.

And I get to use it my leisure time as well.

Well, I get my car back today! I was fortunate that my that I took it to my brother in laws garage and they haven't charged me for most of the labour and parts were trade but even so, it's a hefty bill that I could have done without and I can pay in bits. But this is now my priority debt in case I need help again

Over these last couple of months since my LBM, I have gone through panic, so much stress that my hair is falling out BUT I still have support from family and friends (and you lot) which helps tremendously. Once you get in the mind set, that they can't have money that you don't have it gets more bearable
    LBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors
June 20.....£7,587.....3 creditors left 72% paid

£26,200 on interest only part of mortgage (July 16)...will chip away £17,103
    £49,200 repayment mortgage ( July 16) £37,764

    Morning all,

Good to read how some folks are dealing with their creditors and getting interest frozen - gives me hope that, when the time comes, I'll be able to do the same.

Still waiting for DMP to start, getting letters (almost daily) from creditors about making up missed payments - sigh! I don't think SC can start the ball rolling until OH has sorted out his tax, but likely still on for a 1st July start. So for now putting money aside into the emergency fund.

Sorry to hear folks are having car issues. I have to say we are lucky in that sense, because when we finally do get that company car, we won't have those sorts of bills to worry about.

MBNA keep hounding OH to make additional interim payments - it's a joke really (well actually it isn't) but they call from a different telephone number all the time and we block each new number after they've called. Eventually they are going to run out of options :D

It's a dull, wet and dank day here today, but tomorrow promises better weather and I can finally get out and tidy the garden (its a mess).

Have a good day all :)

Isn't that weird! MBNA are my best creditor so to speak. Never had calls from them and they accepted my payment offer and froze interest immediately

Mbna have been great with me too. Stopped interest straight away, and I've never had any hassle.

They Even sent me letters telling me that whilst I would receive demand letters, they know I won't be able to pay them, and to ignore as they are just auto generated!

I checked my MBNA account last night - it looks like they have 'sold' the debt, is it is now showing £0 as the balance.
That was nice to see as last time I looked, a few weeks ago, it said £12k! Shame all the debts can't just disappear like that!:D
