  • Morning all,

Just wanted to say hi to everyone and hope you are all having a good weekend. I see there are the usual very wise words from everyone and can only agree with what has been said!

Once again I am impressed with how much people have managed to pay off and I don't see it in anyway as bragging - although you should as it really is inspiring to the rest of us who are just starting out.

The whole debt thing is always a range of emotions, from despair to joy and it is just natural to feel different things along the way but the best thing is the support of everyone here as even when you are feeling down, a little moan and everyone is always so lovely and supportive.

Julie I would go for the job and then mention about the op as I did this with the company I work for and I still got the job when I mentioned I would have to have 2 weeks off for an op sometime after I started. Good luck with it and I hope you get the job.

    Hi GUO

Frustrating I know but they mostly preset it at the start or the budget review. For example my DFD was much earlier on SC as they didn't factor in some predictors were charging me interest. Your own record is the most important. If anyone doesn't have it already best to print off the statements and get one built.

Have you worked out your own DFD? Wish I could make everyone's DFD sooner.

    HHx

HH you are brilliant. I didn't realise that SC worked that way. I have worked out my DFD and it is earlier than SC's. I am looking at July 2015, but they say September. Originally is was going to be July 2016 so have reduced it by a year. :j

I have two debts taken over by Aktiv Kapital and they have written to me offering a discount if I pay up all of it now. As both debts are in the region of four grand I don't think I will be taking them up on it (unless I win the lottery):)

Well done, that's a substantial reduction.

I'll put that 4k on the lottery wish list. Don't forget when they ask you again they will likely come back at a lower amount. What % of the debt have they offered to settle at.

Re your own records..... are you getting monthly statements from all creditors?

    HHx
  • GUO, we also need to celebrate that you only have one full calendar year left for your DMP.

We are 4 months into this one so half year point is just over the hill. Next year will be the last full one. For significant proportion of that one you can be thinking this time next year I will have only six months to go, three months to go, this time next year I will be debt free.

The short year after will be a whizz. Yippee!

    Morning all,

Just thought I'd pop my head around the door. Things are bobbing along, no changes, still waiting for a response Asda CC.
Think the next step is a complaint to financial ombudsman.
I've got some news, bit of a dilemma really. I have an interview for a job that sounds right up my street:j my problem is I ripped a cartilage in my knee a few weeks ago and am struggling to just walk around at the moment. Anyway I have an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday and should have a date for an op. should I go for the interview and explain I couldn't start for a few weeks if I get it. It's just really bad timing. The money would mean we could throw so much more at the DMP. I really want to go self managed as soon as I can and get into the full and final offer arena. What do you think. I'm probably not going to lose anything by attending the interview?
Oh forgot to say hi to Suseka. I'm not sure which thread your talking about but:p to them, this thread is wonderful and HH and Ttftm along with others have given lots of us wonderful help and advice. Good luck.

I'm another one who is support of going for the interview Julie. I am on 3 months notice for my job, your op could be done and dusted in that time. You've got nothing to lose so go and be open and honest and knock their socks off :)

  • Hello all,

Completely new to the whole Debt Payment Plan so please bear with me, I have total debts of £14,780 and am looking to use Payplan to set up a management plan for them.

I started a new job last month and I have done and income and expenditure and this will leave me £300 after rent etc but not including my current debt amounts I pay which are about the same.

Obviously this leaves me short each month hence the debt management plan.

My question is, Do management plans allow for you to have a small surplus amount at the end of the month? - with the aim of putting some aside for a rainy day?

How long in peoples experience do plans take to set up/ creditors contacted?
July 2015 Wins- Shaun The Sheep Goody Bag, 4x Books

    Year to date: £786

    Total to date ( Since 2008 ) = £37,345
