  • Hi, wandering if I could get a little advice if thats ok. I have been on a debt management plan for over 6 years (I swopped all of my debts to one roof (the HSBC roof!!) and then wasnt entitled to a IVA.)

I recently got refunded the last 2 months payment from CCCS who deal with my debt management plan. When I called they said account had been written off and to call CL finance to confirm. (CL finance brought debt from HSBC)

I called CL Finance and they said this is not the case and I still owe them £24,000 of which £10,000 is made up of bank charges Grrrr!!!(i did try and get them refunded but HSBC not having any of it)

Now CL Finance is asking me to pay them directly and CCCS are asking me to reinstate account and go through them. CCCS told me if I reinstated then I wouldnt have to start again with credit rating score which is finally on the up.

Not sure what the difference is between the 2 but worried about my credit score, anyone know the best way to go or is there no difference?

    (CCCS is now called StepChange).

I would reinstate the plan with StepChange , and let them deal with it all.

I *think* the reason for the returned payments could be because CL have bought the debt from HSBC, and StepChange didnt have a valid account number to make the payment to.

    Hi

Ouch 10k of charges? I'd be seeking advice from legals and the FOS about that one before I paid a penny.

Really don't understand what SC have advised you re building the credit score. That's a new one.

Hi all, quick question, im probably being thick but here goes.

One of my creditors is littlewoods, passed on to nco Europe. One of he items I bought was buy now pay later, which was is up in may, as this has not been paid for in full, they have added £356 interest. Is it worth asking for this interest to be refunded as they have suspended interest on the rest of the outstanding balance? Or am I going to have to put up and shut up as I already knew the terms and conditions? Does that make sense?
I'm just going through accounts and updating my spreadsheet and wondered if it was worth a try.
    Cheers x

Sorry if this sounds pessimistic but I would insist on statements and if not things in writing re no more interest. I think they are only obliged to send statements on a yearly basis unless there is a change. Maybe worth asking one of the experts. How are you expected to manage it if you can't measure it. Their word alone would not be enough for me.

    Good luck

I will ask when I ring them. I certainly don't want the situation of thinking my balance is doing fine and then finding out a load of charges have been added. Although both Aktiv Kapital and BOS have both said there won't be any charges or interest added to the debt. Not sure I quite trust them though.

They have to send you a statement once a year, but you can ask for one at anytime. They may fob you off on the phone at first but just ring again at the end of each month and ask for one, and do that every month. Failing that, write and demand one.

The debt collection guidance says that failing to provide balance statements "when reasonably requested" is a breach of the guideline. I think once a month is more than reasonable.

I'm rubbish at links but see if this works.
