Glad you got sorted Mossop well done.
I am waiting for Asda CC to respond to my letter asking them to reduce interest to 0 % and to refund any interest and charges, we shall see.
Otherwise DMP going fine, but dh's work is very quiet and I'm unable to work due to health problems at the moment although I'm selling everything that's not pinned down on eBay.
Fingers crossed things will pick up.

Another quick update, heard back from Next who have accepted DMP and frozen interest, BOS CC who have accepted DMP and charging interest only on cash advance balance and BOS overdrafts who I think accept the payment plan however say they need Stepchange to send the proposal again! Letters from HFC and Sainsbury's stating arrears however no inkling of whether they have received proposals at all never mind accept. I'm glad I found this thread before embarking on this journey or I would be in panic mode regarding this however I know from the helpful people on here that a lot of them do this so I'll wait and see. Still don't seem to have worked out how to budget yet although we seem to be managing but will have to work something out so I can be ready for any emergency spends. Hope all is well with everyone else. R. PS Can anyone explain to me why it is better to be self managed in the long run than use Stepchange?

Good news on Next. Ask BOS why they are treating cash advances differently to the remainder of the debt. There may be something in the T&C which allows them to do this but it's worth a challenge.

Self management isn't always necessary and it will never be for everyone.

Unfortunately some creditors consider once you can meet your minimum payment again, you are no longer in financial difficulty and reintroduce full interest and charges.

Being with StepChange does not allow you to treat any creditor differently. Even when creditors write to tell you to drop your payment and they will stop interest, StepChange will not permit this.

Being self managed gives you the control to make these changes and also immediately put us a month ahead with our DFD. As we have managed to get interest stopped on more debts plus make extra payments to finish others earlier, we are now approximately 4 months ahead of our predicted DFD.

Hi, I visited here a month or two ago when we were contemplating a DMP. We thought we had things sorted then the weather got worse and DH hasn't done more than a week's work since October. We have other income but not enough to service all our debt and have a warm house/ enough food for us and fuel for the car.

After going to a union for help we have been advised to continue with a DMP. I agreed for all of our info to go to Payplan and we await their phone calls again:)

A DMP doesn't have to last forever and that is what is encouraging us to make use of it. The opportunity to pay off our debts in time and not have then written off appeals to me. I am not ready for self management but after reading lots of posts on here feel it is the way we will ultimately go.
business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

I'm in the process of setting up a dmp with step change and have written out all my letters. A few of my creditors have emailed to say my account is on hold for 30 days which is great, however I have just received a default email from pounds to pocket stating the full payment is now due, and I'm not even late with a payment to them yet!!!

Do I need to reply to this email or is it just standard in response to either my or step changes correspondence?

I'm a bit worried as I will default on 3 payday loans this weekend and I'm not sure I can handle the stress, I have said I only want contact in writing, but is there a chance they will still call? It's pounds to pocket, wonga, and payday uk.

Took my first steps to a DF life yesterday .....

I am going to London in October for my birthday and saw a bargain 3 night stay at the Travelodge in London Bridge for £150.00 (inc breakfast), so dad lent me the money and I paid for it yesterday and will pay him back when I am in DF land.

The amount I have borrowed is about half my my monthly DMP payment, so I can afford to pay him back pdq.

I will meet up with my younger brother (as he works down there) and we will spend the day together.

Only 2 more months now till I`m DF !.

    Hi all
had posted a seperate line earlier but no responses about whether interest being applied when they told me verbally they would apply but wasnt showing up on my statement.

well this month's statements have arrived and barcl7card are still not showing interest but Hfx have whacked on the interest meaning i am only paying £23 capital off a 10k debt. They are also still applying to my loan ( which i had paid most upfront. Another couple of complaints letters me thinks.

Does get a bit frustrating as was seeing balance go down reasonably wish i hadnt kept using 'my bank' for all credit purposes as i see HBOS as a regular difficult creditor on here where as others seem more ammeniable to freeze. Hey ho.
