Popping my head back in here as I've been off the forum for about 5 months dealing with some pretty horrible family and personal stuff. Things have calmed down a bit but my latest challenge is that I am about to become jobless, losing two thirds of our household income and will have to instigate Employment Tribunal proceedings against my employer.
Called SC last week and they have suspended our DD for 2 months till I see what the situation is with benefits payments. I am long-term sick and so will be claiming ESA, but will also have to go through some pretty horrible assessments to be able to keep that benefit. Not looking forward to that at all as I've eard some horror stories.
Before I called SC, I did a quick 'back of an envelope' calculation to see what we could cut down on from our existing SC budget, but it still leaves us with about £500 a month shortfall BEFORE we pay anything to the DMP. I'm hoping we'll be able to get help with the mortgage interest for a while, but not sure what the qualification for that sort of help is.
I'm heading over to the benefits boards to see what I can find out, and I'll be making an appointment with CAB shortly too.
Good to see some familiar names here (HH, TTFTM, GUO etc) and glad to be back with friends.0 -
We have now finished our SC review for the first 12 months. We are keeping the payments the same at present until things improve, it was all done quite easily and via email.
We have had a letter from HSBC now saying they are passing our debt to their own management company. Something that SC have welcomed.
We have also now been told that Natwest are closing our bank accounts (which we haven't used for a year) and are going to take legal action for our "indebtedness". SC are sending the statement of affairs to them and as usual have told us not to worry. We have a loan with them that has around £10k left to run. But I will believe as usual with SC they have helped us so far.
We are still 3 months away though from our 12 months anniversary with SC but it looks like we will have paid around 10% off the overall debt which I am happy about.Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35Now £27,470.20 :T57% of debts cleared:beer:0 -

All sounds like good news bertman :T
Have all your creditors frozen interest? If not, it seems to be when they are passed on or accounts are closed, that this happens. So this could definitely be a good thing.LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

As some of you may know I went from SC to self-administered and due to being rubbish with money (hence the DMP!) I'm going back to SC. I am due to make my first payment in May but because I've got various stuff to pay out for do you think they will accept this in June instead? I know SC will probably accept it but I'm thinking more the creditors as this will mean only making token payments in April AND May........LBM August 2011
Debt at start[STRIKE] £72,392[/STRIKE]
Debt at March 2013 £61,985 (15% paid off so far)0 -

Hi Kel
What were the problems with self managed?
I guess theyd want a very good reason as to why 2 months of tokens?

Sounds like good news Bertman. I think we started around the same time; good to see things working out for you. I'm hoping that the DMP will still be an option for us once we sort out where we are. We will have a SC review in May, before the DD restarts.0 -

Thanks TTFTM
When we started the DMP we knew that its flexibility would help us get through any changes in circumstances, but we didn't envisage such a drastic change! Hoping we'll be able to continue with it on a much reduced basis, as this will help me concentrate on my health and not worry about money. Lots of challenges ahead: employment tribunal, house selling, benefits claiming and of course the DMP.
I know I have friends and support here, and I'm sure it'll help me get through.0
