Its the first day out weve had since dmp started in march but feels great that it was money accounted for so the outing was carefree and guilt free!!!
Hope uve all had a good weekend!

Well if you dont pay whats the worst they can do?? A million letters and phone calls.......
Do what is right for you.
Well when you put it like that.....
Letters I can reply to, the phone I will ignore.
Everybody will still get what's owed to them, just two months later than they expected.
    Thanks :)

    Hi,

I had my LBM last month and have spoken to CSSS who have advised that i should go onto a DMP. Im on the process of getting all my info together along with opening a new bank account with Co-op. Im planning to send letters this week to all of my creditors. Although i feel positive in the fact that im dealing with my debt, deep down im absolutly bricking it, worring what the responses i will get from from my creditors, will they accept/wont they accept etc etc This forum has been amazing with the info and support it provides (Been a long time lurker :)) so thought i would take the plunge and join.

What i have gathered is that normally the first few months are the hardest and once the creditors accept (Which i really hope they do !! ) its normally easier. I have 6 creditors owing approx £35K. Barclays, Barclaycard and NRAM. Does anybody have any experience with this do they normally accept or do they like to play hardball? any advice greatly appreciated !! :)

Also :) what is the likelyhood of a creditor going the CCJ route after the DMP is setup?

    Cheers again :)

    Hi all,

Hope everyone is ok, sorry I've been missing a few days, not much happening, just the DMP bobbing along really and trying to keep within our budget.
Sadly we had some awful news, my son in Australia rang to say his new FIL had died from a massive heart attack aged just 48. Awful for us because as well as being in laws him and his wife were great friends of ours. It really puts things in perspective when you realise you can be here one minute and gone the next. I really couldn't give two hoots about creditors at the minute:( really only shared this so that it brings home to everybody it's only money:eek: I know we have to pay back our debts but honestly I am waisting no more time stressing about what people think about me.
Mossop your day out sounds fab, the nice weather has helped a lot.
Hi Debt Free 77. Your debt is about the same level as ours and we didn't have any trouble with Barclays, they accepted straight away. Sorry I don't have experience with NRAM but I'm sure somebody else will be able to answer that for you. None of our. Creditors mentioned ccjs but most defaulted fairly quickly which is good because it means you can get on with the 6 yrs and begin repairing your credit file.

Anyway off to post my latest eBay parcels, have a good day x

    Hi and welcome

Very very unlikely re CCJ. It costs them to try to get one and most cases go in your favour rather than the preditors anyway.

Sounds like you have your start up well on track, well done. Can be easier with fewer creditors providing they play ball of course. Barclays aren't the best in the world! They tend to reinstate interest at certain levels. I was charged 6%, now on 12.9%. I have an old egg account with them that I managed to get back to 0% with though. The main thing with Barclays you have to be prepared to write to them, appeal and complain if necessary - you can do that.

    Good Luck

Hi - I was wondering if I can get some advice please.

I have had my DMP with Churchwood financial for two years now and am happy with them. I couldnt get help with CCCS (Now stepchange) as I was told I had too much disposable funds at the end of my wages (£20...yes this is true) so in desperation I went with Churchwood.

Fast forward two years and my personal circumstances have changed for the better (wahoo) my creditors were good and interest and charges were dropped/stopped.

I am wondering whether it would be best for me to stop paying churchwood and revert back to paying monthly myself direct with the creditors - would the interest then start again?? OR would I best best to start paying extra on top on the DMP payments to clear the debt quicker

Does anyone know how long after defaulted I need to be clear for (Santander told me a year) and how can I get my credit back healthy?

    Thanks everyone.

    Hi everyone

popping in again - I posted last week cos I am going thru a divorce & wanted to know if I should wait to do a DMP. I spoke to Payplan & they suggested I speak to my solicitor first before I do anything, so I have emailed the legal secretary to get her advice first

    xx
