Morning all
Got back from London yesterday , had a lovely time , we were very lucky with the weather
Although when we got back home , walked into an untidy house, ended up cleaning the kitchen almost before I had taken my coat off:mad: anyway all is clean and tidy now , I've just ironed the 4 loads of washing I did last night , ready for dd1 to back to uni
Plans for today , are more cleaning and tidying , possibly driving dd to uni today rather than tomorrow as snow is forecast and she doesn't want to be stuck here unable to get back
halight hugs to you , it must be very frustrating no knowing when your op is x
molly take care you are travelling in snow
Hope everyone has a lovely day xx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Now light, beautiful bright sunny morning, but very frosty.
DH up and had brekkie and is now getting ready to go to his course.
DS2 up and had brekkie and is now ready to be collected by dad as he is going to his first karting lesson, (Xmas prezzie).
DS1 still in his pit.
Cold still making me feel rough, but again yesterday dosed myself up and got on with it, like us women always do! Went to the bank, food shopping - again spent more than I wanted but did buy a few extras that were on at a good price and trying to have a few extra bits in so we can not succomb to expensive takeaways etc. Did tackle the ironing mountain, and still have a little more that is now dry to do, will get all those bits done today. Didn't manage to get the baking/cooking done so will do that at my leisure this morning. Dinner last night was lamb shanks in rosemary and mint gravy - they were really lovely as they were cook from frozen so just put them in the cooking pot into the oven and left them to cook! Served them with mash, carrots, broccolli, green beans and peas, defrosted a choc gateau left from xmas for dessert - the LO's are still in the fridge for tonight's dessert. Although the lamb shanks weren't cheap they were much cheaper than a takeaway and as I felt rough it was the best solution. I did sit and try to do a bit of menu planning as the freezer outside desparately needs to be defrosted but I have way too much in it at the moment to do this - realistically I need to sort the inside one too, as seem to have loads of portions of different meals and plastic boxes full of various LOs. I will continue with the menu planning and utilise the food I already have so as to empty the freezers so I can defrost the outside one.
Feel really pleased that we all already know the true value of cooking from scratch (obviously I didn' t last night but do normally!) - as the latest food scandal seems to be unveiling more horror stories everyday! I'm so pleased that my boys don't particularly like "processed" meat products, in fact thinking about it I don't know the last time they ate shop bought ready made lasagne/burgers etc - they are just not that keen luckily! They last time (which is literally over 2 years ago that I offered them a burger meal from the well known chain my DS1 actually said "I'd rather go home and you cook me a proper meal"!) Not that I'm a brilliant cook, I'm an ok cook, we certainly don't starve, but I do get a lot of pleasure from cooking and baking but the biggest satisfaction for me is knowing what my loved ones are eating and the fact that it's only got in it what I put in it!
Have a great Saturday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Wet day here, and we are due some snow either today or tomorrow, washing will have to go on the airers.
Dropping dd at work this morning, then I have to go on a hunt for a money belt for her, she is off on her college trip abroad tomorrow and they have advised us (at this late stage) to get one ! she is all packed apart from this.
Tonight her boyf is coming for dinner and to say goodbye 2 weeks is a long time when you are young.
Will get the dog out later on although it may be a quick walk as its now raining.
Halight, i hope they take you in soon xxxx
BB you think they shot at the windscreen
TTFTM, hope yoy are feeling a bit better today xx
FS hope dd is not too sore.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning Halight and all,
Halight you hang in there, the QE is a very good hospital (even if its hard to get into). It would be my first choice for treatment if either myself or any of my family were sick or injured. They even have their own military injured wards there. I'd probably get lost finding the ward but there you go. I think if i was going to visit someone on a regular basis in there i'd have to camp there.
Feeling a bit brighter today. Theres nothing like a bit of someone elses drama to lift you out of the pit of gloom your in. Problems have a habit of not going away though, they just simmer ready to resurface again at a later date.
Hubby is still walking round with a frozen face. I think he's after sympathy now as he was like a blasted octopus again last night.
Hopefully we'll manage the shopping today, if not, no biggie i have enough food stored to keep us going a day or two longer.
Daughter went to see the midwife yesterday and all is well. She has quite a rare blood group apparently. She must get that from her Dad as i am O positive. As her blood group is accepted by all blood types i asked her for a pint of blood and she told me to sod off! Nice
Other daughter and her partner are setting up larger premises for the charity they have set up in South Africa. They are hoping to take on 6 foster babies now instead of 3. Their own home was getting a bit cramped. Did i tell you they took the child they are hoping to adopt to his Mothers funeral a few days ago? It was held in a hut and the body stank apparently. They will be going through the same process again soon as the childs Father is at deaths door too. Obviously they dont want to go but said it would be nice to tell the child when he is older that he went to the funerals of both his parents.
Anyway, I'd best get something done. Didnt do much yesterday but i had best make an effort today.

morning all!
weekend off!:j
housework this morning and also need to compile a shopping list for tomorrow.
Am going to have a look at my cooking books for some nice new recipes this week - it's so easy to get stuck in a rut and have the same things every week.
I only eat fish, no meat but DH does eat meat so we have to have something we can both eat - he can have his meaty dishes when I'm at work for tea.
Wet here. WM on it's second load.
DS2 stopping tonight as it's easier for his to get to work tomorrow as his train is cancelled.
Halight - hope you get your hospital appointment soon x
Have a great weekend all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Good Morning x
Halight - I totally understand how frustrating the hospital situation is. Im waiting to go into the National Neurology Hospital and it seems never-ending.
Butterfly - hope you doing ok x
We have definite snow now. We have to go over to Northampton to fill i some forms for my parents so really hope it does not come on too heavily. I still remember the time I was stuck on the A43 as the only on-call midwife for the area for 8 hours in 2005. Goodness that was scary and now always carry my snow kit. Stay safe.
My back is still very sore but Im mobile now so being very careful. Difficult with my wobbly gait.
Anyhow - minimal OS but nice to read all your doings x
Hey Molly,
Have you been watching them then two brain hospital programs one is on channel 5 and the other one bbc 2.
I think the one might have been done at the National Neurology Hospital, Not sure now but both are very good program's.
Good Luck:A:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

Iv been treated by the QE for the last 13 years, You are right they are a great hospital.:T:T They do some wonderful work there,
When I go into hospital this time It will be my first time going into the new Hospital. All My other op's were done In the old building.
Iv had quite a few out appointment's there. And they really should issue map's and GPS to people so they can find there way around the place.
When You go to the hospital you see many injured soldiers there, Walking around. Missing bits of themselves,
The price of war,
Will we ever know if it was worth the it?:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Morning all!
Was just getting to sleep last night when the phone rang at midnight, instant panic thought MILs hip had dislocated again....it was my brother phoning from USA! He was telling me they had snow forecast, and they have just had their heating fixed at a massive cost etc, I thought mmmmm, but looked on line at the weather there when I got up and  glad I'm not there!!!
Needless to say hardly slept after that, so am like a half shut knife today, never mind! Nothing planned, will have a potter about in the house and if it dries up go for a wander somewhere for some air to clear my fuzzy head.
Halight, hope you get a date soon, waiting is very frustrating, just seems to prolong the agony!
Hugs to all, have a good day!RIP Iain
