Seeking reimbursement for taxi not showing up!

You've almost no chance of getting anything from the taxi company.
I also agree 20 minutes isn't enough time. Taxis are reliant on other road users so there are many reasons why they could be late getting to your house and a 20 minute buffer is very low.
If you could get compensation for this you could get compensation every time a bus didn't arrive at its exact timetabled time! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I never knew you could pre-book a bus for a specific time?
In my opinion, Taxis should always get to there bookings 5-10 minuets early or at the very least on-time. Having an excuse that they are late because of other road users/road works is not good enough and the taxi firm/driver should give enough time to get to the bookings.
If i book a taxi for 5:00 pm i expect the taxi to be waiting ready to go at 5:00, not turning up at 5:01 pm.I would expect at the very least a courtesy call explaining that the taxi is running late.0 -

I would argue you are confusing taxi drivers with servants. I don't think many organisations would phone you if they were running one minute late (maybe ocado). This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I do not think for a second that taxi drivers are servants. But I think people need to get out of the mindset that bad service is part of the course.
If I have entered into a contract with a taxi firm to pick me up at a agreed time and location for payment i expect them to fulfil there obligation, Not turn up late (if at all) in the OP case.
I hope the op is able to peruse the taxi firm and receive some sort of reimbursement for his loss.0 -

I live 5 minutes walk from the train station and I leave more time than that when catching a train that runs every 30 minutes let alone one that runs once every two hours and is needed to catch a flight!
Lesson learned the hard way, I suggest that 20mins even for a 3-4 minute drive is short sighted when the nature of catching the train is so important.
Taxi drivers are at the mercy of traffic just like anyone else and expecting them to be there on time every time probably shows you are not a driver
OP, I suggest you send a letter to the taxi firm and then consider suing them. Not sure you'll win but good luck.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
He's right though it is just your opinion that a taxi should arrive 5/10 minutes early unless you think your opinion is backed up by any legislation in which case perhaps you'd like to refer to it.
My point was in reply to goater78 when he said Taxis are reliant on other road users so there are many reasons why they could be late getting to your house
If i have booked a taxi at an agreed time the taxi is contractual obligated to fulfil this.Taxis should always leave a buffer between bookings and always be ready to pick up the customer at the agreed time.Having excuses like the above is just not good practice .0
