Hi all. I have a question, I am wondering if there is a package anyone knows of which basically offers broadband only. I never use my home phone as I pay a contract for my mobile. But I have a laptop so need Internet. So basically is there a broadband only deal??
Thanks.
Thanks.

IIRC the only BB only deals are likely to be some form of mobile dongle (with the limited data allowance and costs invovled in that).
If you're in a cable area you might be able to get VM cable without a phone line, but from memory it works out about the same as with the phone line.
ADSL simply is not available without some form of phoneline, as it require an active phoneline to work (thus line rental).0 -
Try PlusNet - has various combinations of broadband only or broadband plus phone.0

Even with the broadband only packages from Plusnet you still need a phoneline.0

I'm with primus. I paid £111 upfront for line rental and pay 99p a month for broadband, works out at £10.24pm.0

In the UK you currently cannot have landline broadband without an active phone line as well
In other countries you can - its called 'naked / dry loop adsl'

ADSL broadband requires an active line, an active line requires you to pay line rental. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Which is fair enough. But why do we have to pay for telephone service that we don't need?
The payment you make to your ISP does not provide and maintain the phone line. It's like saying, 'I pay for fuel for my car, why should have to pay road tax as well to maintain the road'?
You are not paying for the phone service. You are paying for an active line to transmit the data.No free lunch, and no free laptop
