Go for the nexus 7 is the cheapest and best option. Plus you will always be up to date as it straight from google (provided the hardware is able to run the latest software).

If you want a bigger screen then the nexus 10, easily the best 10 incher around just now and for the same reasons above

Thnx. I am looking for cheaper tho. I have an ipad which was £399 and don't what to spend that much as we know its only used to read the paper send emails and surf the web a bit. It was an indulgence which I enjoy but think I should have looked into it more before I purchased. Having said that my mum has got an iPhone 4 and I have so its good from that point of view but for mum it'll just be to save her getting off her chair and going into the colder room where the desktop pc is! Maybe some Skype, emails, taking photos occasionally maybe. Would the Acer be any good for her needs.

The Kindle Fire doesn't* have any access to Google Apps or the Google Play Store, which are the best things about having an Android tablet. Amazon's alternatives aren't as good.

*Well, with a certain amount of hacking you can get them on there, but it's not a process I'd recommend for most people.

Good info thnx. Not sure where I'm going with all this now lol! Price is definitely an issue as its not going to be used to its potential. Think I'm back to considering the one at £99 in Asda
