Dont apply for a negotiating role at the UN.
Think what you would think of yourself if on the other end of the line.
Your attitude on here suggests discounts are automatic cos everyone else gets them.
I am sure Martins tactics suggest a measure of being pleasant.
I am a buyer to trade and good relations ensure good service.0 -
At the end of the day, digital tv is a luxury item. I'd be inclined to use freeview and sort my finances out. Sky may also be putting markers on your credit file which you may come to regret in future.0

If poor service isn't enough to dump Sky, let me suggest a couple of more reasons to help make up your mind.

.The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.0 -

After threatening to cancel, he offered a ridiculous offer - he would allow me to pay the bill due last month, and issue a credit for tomorrow's due bill - for one day only. *To give me a chance to get it together* - his words. Then tomorrow, he'd debit the account and we'd lose service for being late, 1 day after being billed.
So he offered to pay part of your bill? I'd be pretty happy about that. I used to work for them and get nothing from them!My user name is SkyInsider... I worked for Sky quite some time ago, also worked for Virgin Media and a few other tech companies as a consultant. All views are my own0 -
Thank you. At each time I've tried to get a discount of some sort, with my perfectly paid record, nothing I did worked. At this point, it just seems a shame to have to lose programmes I love - when I tried to pay, which is why I called. If only I could collect from people who owe who don't pay after 3 weeks, then call to pay, then I demand they pay 30 days early?0

Thank you, no, it's just gone on. We didn't have a specific contract anymore.0

Thank you. The reason I got upset, they insisted I pay for a payment not even due till the following day, wouldn't take my payment to bring my account even, offered no encouragement of any sort.
Adding insult to injury, I later got a request for feedback asking if I felt the person who helped on the phone rewarded my customer loyalty!!!0 -
Yes, the following day.0

The next bill had not even been produced; it was just a sort of attempt to get the money early. When I asked the normal payment terms, the person would not answer.0

Hello, superbigal36,
I am the most super-polite person, in the real world, and on the phone. It is silly of you to suggest, because I posted my concerns, that I would be other than pleasant. Even on this phone call I never was other than extra polite.
You're right in what you write; however, please do not make assumptions on little info.0
