Should I buy a used Saab or not?

I'm thinking about buying a Saab 9-3 sport wagon diesel for around £10000,just not sure if its a good idea at the mo?
Any advice would be appreciated.;)
Personally i wouldnt.
That car still has a long way to fall and in two years time could be worth peanuts.
They were never that good in the first place.
Definitely not where i'd be putting £10K of my hard earned.0 -
No, personally I wouldn't bother either.. for lots of reasons.
More importantly, do you have any other car choices in mind?0 -
Always been in to VWs but been looking at the price of Saabs and they are cheap at mo.got a passat tdi saloon at present but looking to change to an estate car.think I will stay German and prob go for an Audi or BMW.0

What age, mileage, model, etc is it? The majority of the mechanical parts are GM so not hard or expensive to get hold of.
Items like the 'crushed ice' light clusters on the 93 wagon are almost impossible to get now though.0 -

Even with the improved position for parts since the Swedish government (effectively) nationalised the legacy parts business, and the fact that there's a lot of GM parts in there, servicing and maintenance is a worry. Our 9-3 is our seventh Saab, and we're planning to run it for as long as we can, but we're not naive about the issues. Ten grand seems absurdly expensive. It's one thing to keep a car you already own going, when you have a sentimental attachment to the marque. It's another to buy a new problem.0 -

The issue is a lot of the parts GM wanted it to have fitted were not. So some fairly unique parts.
Someone on here last year had issues with an accident claim in a Saab. Having trouble sourcing parts.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I know some leased Saabs have been brought back early due to parts issues - even for things as mundane as Xenon headlamps and egr coolers. Won't be long before some parts will only be available 2nd hand IMO0

Saabs are lovely cars when they are running well IMO, but the fact is you need to buy them dirt cheap - as an insurance policy, because as the above states, they ignored a lot of the "instructions" from their masters at GM.
Even new cars (of all makes) go wrong, but that is no problem if it is a Ford, VW etc - it does matter if it is a Saab.0 -
Not for £10,000
Undoubtably great value if everything goes OK ... so if you get a £3000 Saab of similar spec to a £4000 Mondeo I think good buy... but
The uncertainty of parts is one thing for a £3000 car and another for a £10,000 one.0
