Bit off topic but I wanted to add my two'penneth-
I bought my first Saab on Friday for £495 and I am in Saab Heaven! I get them, it has the X-factor. I can't wait for every journey to begin, it's like the car has been sprinkled with some secret Swedish magic dust that was kept hidden away from the rest of GM.0 -

Yep they are FANTASTIC VALUE.....
Worse case, you can't lose more than £250 even if you sold for scrap.... and meanwhile you have a car you are happy with!
I understand that going out of business gives some concerns but people need to look at them in context....
I really think that prices have dropped WAY below the reality of the concerns.....0 -
This demonstrates what fantastic value can be had currently-

We had a 9-5 estate and it was a beautiful car, drove like an absolute dream, was very economical for what it was, had a very high spe and full leather for an absolute bargain price... Loved it.
Then the clutch went... Parts are ridiculously expensive and very specific. We had it fixed and sold it on, as we couldn't afford the potential repair bills that might occur in the future. If you're spending a couple of grand on one, I'd say go for it as you won't lose too much if it comes to it, but not 10,000.0 -
Not for £10,000
Undoubtably great value if everything goes OK ... so if you get a £3000 Saab of similar spec to a £4000 Mondeo I think good buy... but
The uncertainty of parts is one thing for a £3000 car and another for a £10,000 one.
I agree to a point, I wouldn't be paying 10 grand if there was any uncertainty about parts availability.
Having said that I've never had a problem getting bits for my 9-5 in all the time I've had it &, hopefully, things are not going to get any worse in the future http://www.saab.com/en-gb/uk/the-company/news/latest-news/news-column/2012-04/stock-availability-improves/

Prices are what you would expect for an "executive" car, I certainly wouldn't class the price of a clutch as hideous, 9-5 clutch kits available for around £145... not cheap but hardly "hideous".Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

Lots of other people "get them" too, there's a certain something about themAlways try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
I too love saabs.:heartpuls
I've had commments like *its a badged up vauxhall vectra*.......Well i've driven the vectra & it ain't even close.
Look on owners forums (such as saab scene) find a decent independant who specialise in saabs (we're lucky, we have one local). Be clued up. Know exactly what you're getting into.
I'd have another in a heartbeat.....but the key is, having someone you trust when things go wrong (as they do with any manufacturer)Autism Mum Survival Kit: Duct tape, Polyfilla, WD40, Batteries (lots of),various chargers, vats of coffee, bacon & wine.0 -
For 10k I'd try and buy an old NSX :laugh:0

I couldn't have put it better if I'd tried really hard

More to the point, £95 or £145 is largely irrelevant when labour is say £600! That's £695 or £745 and labour is likely to be more....0
