Bread maker and Juicer. These were presents from our well meaning children. 'Er Indoors used them quite a bit to start with but for the last 6 months they have remained in a bottom cupboard in the kitchen.
Maybe I'll get 'em out again one day soon and see if the novelty has really worn off. Might try making my own, though if it's anything like my pastry we might have to get a demolition expert in :rotfl:. That's why I always buy ready made pastry, and why not, even television chefs recommend it! So there!!:o0 -
Juicer, omg, if I had a dishwasher I would have been ok with using it more, buying fresh squeezed juice again now (not from concentrate) until I can find a juicer that is easier to clean!!!
Puff pastry wouldn't know where to start so buy it ready to roll. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Thriftlady - I went and bought a tin of peaches after reading about you making ice lollies with some. Then I thought of making "peach melba lollies", so I'm going to whizz up some raspberries (I have copious amounts in the freezer from the garden last year) add some (soya) yogurt and layer them in the lolly moulds with the whizzed up peaches. I'll let you know how they come out.0

Juicer - I love the juice, but all the mess, and waste of the fibre, just use magic bullet instead, so use all the fibre - much easier to clean, and can make small quantities.0

I love OS and try lots of things from it. If they work for me I continue to use them, if not I don't - but I don't beat myself up about it and I'm glad to read that most of you feel the same.
The things I use have saved me hundreds of pounds every month, now either I was very wasteful before - and I'm keeping quiet about that one - or I have done brilliantly at OS.
I can make pastry but we don't eat much of it. I do spasmodic menu planning BUT this morning I did a monthly plan which gives a main meal main ingredient e.g. eggs, mince, beans, sausages which leaves a bit of wiggle room e.g. do you fancy toad in the hole or sausages and chips (HM and oven of course!) I do a basic month's shop with top ups for fresh stuff when necessary. It works for me.
My guiding principals for money saving are - do I want it? If the answer is yes the next question is - how cheaply can I get it? Money saving tips I will try them and if they work I will continue to use them. :T0
