Car insurance a lot higher.. no reason!

Hi there.

My car insurance is up £500 from last year. The ONLY thing thats happened is when someone smashed into the side of me.

It was obviously not my fault. The girl who did it claimed liability with no problems, and her insurance company paid for the damage. etc etc...

So any ideas why a premium would go £500 for a none-fault claim? With Frizell by the way. Thanks

have you tried doing a comparison on Confused.com or Switch (the annoying advert ones) ... that might give you an idea if Frizzell are just ripping you off, or if there's something more sinister behind it?

haven't done it yet. They've always been the cheapest for me.. until this :s and as I said the only thing changed is this none fault thing.. would this effect premiums in anyway or have they cocked up?

I had a no fault accident which caused my premium to go up. I got a letter from my insurance company detailing the increase and claimed it back from the person who drove into me.

So you claimed the difference for that one year from the other person? Or the other persons insurance company? And did they pay without question?

    Thanks

It is a no claims bonus. Not a no fault bonus.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

I claimed for the three years my premium was affected, her insurance company paid without (much) quibbling

Cost them £25 for a light, £200 to paint the bumper and £300 for the insurance hike

Agree with Ariba10. It is 'no claim' not 'no blame'. Seems unfair, but there it is.

I cant beleive that. That's really not fair! I'm a young/new driver so any claim is going to put my insurance sky high, and its not even my fault!!!!

GRRRR Thats annoying. Hate the stupid person who crashed into me even more now! She "slipped onto the accelerator" while waiting at a T junction and came straight out into the side of me casuing £1000 worth of damage and nearly taking my mates arm off (which was out the window).

And now cos of her my insurance is rocketing?!? Will try claiming the extra cost from her company.

But won't the OP have claimed off the other drivers insurance rather than her own? That would mean that there still haven't been any claims on her insurance wouldn't it?
