Hi Tattycath,
Just thought I'd pop in and say hello as you so kindly visited my diary. You seem to be someone who has a good handle on all this money management stuff so I will be reading and learning.
The draught excluders are lovely, too, that's the sort of thing I should be doing. Such pretty fabrics.0 -

Hi peaceandfreedom.
Great to see you! :j
I'm pleased you like the draught excluders.they are really easy to make and I sewed them by hand-despite having 2 sewing machines.
I'm trying to have a handle on the money situation, but I'll be out of work shortly so I need to up the bay of e sales! And think of other ways of making the money stretch.
Mr tc is giving me house keeping for my share of the bills and I'm trying to cut my bills back as much as I can as quick as I can so I can still save and make mortgage overpayments.
The only actual bills I have are my car maintenance and my catalogue. Hoping to get catalogue paid off quick. The rest of the bills are usual household stuff.
We are paying back tax credits-have been for nearly 3 years, but that's due to finish in august this year so that should free up an extra £100 a month.
I have 3 bay sales to post out today and a couple of auctions due to finish tonight.
I have over 50 items up at the moment but only 10 are new listings, the rest are relists.
Trying to sort a cupboard out at the moment. I think I'm winning. I seem to have a shelf that's nearly empty! :j
As regards money management I'm learning all the time. Reading other diaries and seeing how other people do things are great sources of inspiration for me.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

So I didn't get any photos done.
I did just over £20 on the bay so I've moved some money around tonight and I now have £612/£2,000.
I spent nearly £40 tonight.
I broke every rule: I took no list, I took DD1 and I made impulsive purchases.
I bought bread we didn't need so I've just put 2 loaves in freezer.
I did buy some cheese-half price offer.
It didn't even include the cost of my prescription-so that will be another nearly £8 tomorrow-on the good side DD is getting it for me so I won't be going anywhere near any shops tomorrow.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

When you say you are out of work soon - is that going to be a permanent thing?
Well done on the ebay sales and on all the stuff you have up for sale at the moment.
I don't even like to think about some of my cupboards, though there's lots of ebayable stuff in them I'm sure. Also DD2 has a huge pile of clothes that could be ebayed.
You are right about other people's diaries being an inspiration - it's why I'm reading yours and lots of other people's diaries. I only seem to get reasonably focussed on moneysaving when I visit MSE every day and read what everyone else is up to.0 -

It's funny how we break the rules even though we know we shouldn't. However taking a child shopping is always asking for trouble - I find our trolley gets filled up with all kinds of junk. Lately though, as DD2 now has a job, she pays me back for some of her extravagances. It does help her rationalise her buying, when she knows she'll be actually having to fork out hard cash for it.0
