Welcome back credit crunch! X0

codemonkey wrote: »And as usual when there is any article about ivf, there's a comment calling people doing ivf selfish and "why don't you adopt?". Well, I'll tell you why we don't adopt. Because it's not the 1950s and unmarried mothers don't put their babies up for adoption anymore. So you only really have kids from troubled backgrounds. And because the adoption process takes years and you get disqualified for things like credit card debt, or owning a staffie, or for wanting to go back to work, or for any mental health issues, or if someone you know or are related to has a criminal record, or if you're older you'll only be allowed an older child, whereas if you have the ability to have a baby naturally, you can have all the above things and drug/drink problems and it doesn't matter. That's why.
Honestly, some people make me so angry!!!
I got really upset about this about a month ago on the guardian website. It's such ridiculous logic as well. If everyone in the world who wanted kids was 'forced' to adopt rather than have their own by whatever means necessary then there'd soon be a shortage of kids. I'm sick of these people banging on about bloody overpopulation and all the rest of it. If people who have IVF on the whole can only afford one/ two kids via what is a financially crippling procedure then they are only replacing themselves in the world... Their kids will then grow up to pay into a welfare system that supports the crazies who think that they were overpopulating. Grrrr. They really fcuk me off. As if ANYONE in the world *wants* to go through IVF without these awful people making matters worse. Worried about overpopulated? Off yourself then rather than deny other people a shot at happiness and family. Your pessimism makes the world a worse place anyway...
Jeepers...must've needed to get that out! Blame it on CD10 -
Well the SA results were far from good. I think we've found the problem.
Normal volume is about 2ml, the sample was only 1ml (this is after three days of abstinence) and had only 3 million sperm. Normal would be 20 million. The only good thing was that the few sperm that were present were apparently healthy/motility ok etc.
First things first we have to repeat the test, before I am allowed to panic.
I knew there was something up. We timed it perfectly for the nine cycles I charted and used opks.0 -

Try not to worry, one test is not enough to make a diagnosis. Men can have varying results every day and a bad result can be temporary due to have had a bad cold weeks ago, getting overheated at some point, being dehydrated, etc. Also if your OH makes some changes now he can also possibly improve his results in 3 months time (the time it takes to make sperm). What is really positive is the good percentage of healthy mobile sperm.
I was worried about the density of sperm in my OH's results, but the percentage of mobile healthy sperm was good. So I banned him from sitting the laptop on his lap, hot baths, getting drunk, etc. I asked him to start taking a male conception vitamin, eat brazil nuts occasionally, eat more fruit and veg, and cut down on alcohol. He even bought a special seat for his bicycle as he sits on it for over 2 hours a day. I know the number of sperm in his sample was more than yours, but we got a bfp two months later. I don't know if the changes made a difference or if it because I was relaxed on holiday or if it was because we dtd more times at the right time, but I had been temping and using a CBFM and it still took 10 cycles.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Good morning ladies,
Hope you're all feeling ok. I've got the holiday blues, but at least it's Saturday! Would recommend kefalonia it is a beautiful island.
I think I've missed another bfp, thrifty congrats!:j
Hugs for all of you on cd1.
Hugs angeltreat, it must be hard to hear but at least you're getting some reasoning/ info. Fingers crossed the next test is better.
Saw that Katie Hopkins video whilst away, what a nightmare!! She is prob only being that controversial to get on tv (hopefully)!
Gotta say I love the celeb gossip on the daily fail, can't help myself! But yeh the people who comment on that site?! Give me strength!
Afm, I'm 14dpo today, so I'm going to hold out till tomorrow to test. Keeping fingers crossed.
Have a lovely day in the sun ladies. XxMini me due March 2014

Thing is though, all the things they tell you not to do (hot baths, tight underwear, too much alcohol etc etc) he doesn't do any of them. Not a single one. He's a perfect BMI (at the lower end of normal but still normal). I do my best to fill him full of veggies. I'm not sure what else we can change. I am going to buy him some vitamins, not sure whether to get the Wellman ones or some separate zinc and selenium as you can get higher doses if you buy them on their own. I might make him take maca too as apparently it's good for sperm count. He's also given up caffeine since the start of this week, on my request (desperate measures, just in case it helped).
We are repeating the test asap just in case for whatever reason the results were skewed, but when even the sample size is so small that they can't fully carry out all the tests they normally would, I'm pretty sure that's not a good sign.
I googled, stupidly, and 3 million per mil would be ICSI territory. This is not what I wanted to read.
I am also supposed to be off the caffeine but I've just made myself a strong coffee, seeing as my caffeine intake isn't likely to help my husband's sperm count
Sjlou, fingers crossed for you!0 -
Morning everyone. Sorry to read the CD1....I feel like I have a knife sticking from my tummy through to my back and pains in my legs so the witch is for sure on her way. Massive argument with DP last night, feel very emotional this morning.
May just stay in bed. Have a good day ladies xx0 -
morning all hugs to those on cd1 or about to be.
sjlou fingers crossed for you.
angel sorry to hear your oh sa wasnt good news, sounds like your doing all the right things.MY dh is on vits but sure what his latest results will show, prob is my end though.
xx0 -
Angel treats when you say sample size is that literally the size of the sample including all the seminal fluid etc?
I know sometimes when we bd there is sometimes a lot more than other times so I think it can definitely fluctuate.
My DH takes zinc tablets, walnuts and tries to eat healthily. And saunas and steam rooms banned.
Can I ask how did you get them to agree to doing the testing before 12 months?
I started feeling very down out of nowhere yesterday and woken up again like it today. I'm convinced I'm out because the month I got pg my temp dipped at 7dpo which was probably implantation & it hasn't happened this time. Plus I'm breaking out in spots. Roll on cycle 7 after the mc
Just going to sunbathe in the garden maybe that vitamin d will cheer me up. 31c today gonna get DH to fill up a mini paddling pool we have to stick our feet in!0 -
