Trying for a Baby Part 9

Letrozole (femera) for 3 months with hcg trigger injections for ov then if I'm not pg by August we get referred for iui/Ivf
Hsg on 5th June
I know zilch about Femara. Is it similar to Clomid in terms of it makes you ovulate - or does it do something to the follicles and then the hcg trigger makes you ovulate?
either way that's really good that there's another option before iui! xx0 -
cd7 pls
Spoke to the doc and she said do 21 day bloods and then she will refer me to a fs
Dh has his scan in 2 weeks times for his kidneys0 -

My FS described it as Clomid works through your head, femera works through your ovaries. The nhs avoid using it if poss as clomid costs £12 and femera costs £85! Hcg trigger should be good though, make ov more predictable!!First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140 -
Great news Atton re 21 day bloods :-)
I went yesterday CD1 ( nurse told me tues come day 1/2 and then 21). But nurse who took them said "I thought these were normally done on day 2/3! ). So bit annoyed that some of these medical people all have diff info :-( wont be happy if I have to do it again next month xxJoined SW on 1.5.14 - Weight 11 stone 11

Becca new drug sounds good - why the hell they can't just say " look this drug we can give u now is 12 quid but one that will more likely work is 85 - if you want it you have to pay something to it" - give us the choice! XJoined SW on 1.5.14 - Weight 11 stone 11

To be fair, armed with that knowledge you could certainly ask your GP or FS for a private prescription. They're perfectly entitled to write you one. Then you can have whatever you like, provided you pay obviously. Some pharmacies will charge a flat fee for processing the prescription (on top of the price of the drugs). This usually isn't too much, say, a tenner.
My brother (doctor although not a GP) writes himself private prescriptions for paracetamol all the time so he can have 200 or whatever, instead of the 32 that pharmacies are limited to."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Morning ladies.
Becca that sounds like a productive appt.
Atton good news about your bloods.
Teamlowe sometimes they make you want to knock their head against a brick wall don't they! My oh was being infuriating earlier this week. Must have been his time of the month! :rotfl:
Littlemiss sorry to hear the witch has arrived And the job news. What a carpy day.:(
Afm, were trying to get lots of bd in so I pounced on oh when he got in from work. :j
Cbfm still still giving me highs but no sign of a peak yet. Doing opks in the afternoons too and no peak so far.
Had some bad news last night. A close friend had to be rushed into theatre on wed. She'd found out she was pregnant about a month ago and had been having some pains. Typical nurse, she ignored them. She was bleeding on wed so went in for an emergency scan. Baby was ectopic.she's also had to loose that Fallopian tube because of it. Poor thing is devastated.
Mini me due March 2014

Because clomid could have worked for me straight away, I was a classic case for it. It also might not have given me the horrific side effects. But now it's not worked he's moving on to the next option. He said he doesn't care but if he prescribed it all the time the powers that be would shut his clinic!!!First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Happy bank holiday weekend to everyone - I'm trying to be in a good mood as I have the whole 3 days off (never happens!) And the sun is shining.
Unfortunately I've got brown spotting so think AF is on her waybut I'm not actually surprised really.
Hope everyone has a great weekend xx0 -
