Trying for a Baby Part 9

I'm sorry to see you here credit_crunch. Be kind to yourself- we're here if you need us. x0

Just got back from our appointment. Clomid is a no go for us as the sperm results make the specialist feel it would just be a stressful waste of our time. Our IVF open evening is 7th May and he thinks they'll give us a treatment start date then.
OH has completely shut down. He's gutted. I'm so upset that this has hit him like this. I know he's picking himself to pieces but he just won't talk about it. I'm going to go speak to the MIL (first time I've ever called her that!) I think to see if she can get him talking.
FS also gave us pre IVF advice so thought I'd post it in case it's useful for anyone else. No heavy exercise (he told me not to start couch to 5k as some evidence shows that strenuous exercise can put your body into 'protective mode' with is hostile to conception, swimming/ yoga/ pilates is OK), folic acid and multi-vits for me. Multi-vits and Vit C, E and Zinc for OH. Loose boxers (he hates that...). Reduce caffeine and alcohol as much as possible and both eat a healthy diet. He also told us to try and find a way to reduce the stress that we're feeling- easier said than done pal!
I think some of the stress noise has gone from my head... not a lot as OH is freaking me out but I think knowing for certain the route that needs to be taken and knowing that physically I should be able to carry a pregnancy (even with slightly higher miscarriage/ caesarian/ early labour stats) has reassured me a little. Thanks to everyone here for your encouragement over the past months- I don't know what I'd have done without you all.0 -
Tea cake although I'm really sorry the clomid isn't going to be an option, I'm really pleased for you that ivf is because you were worrying before if you could carry a pregnancy so obviously that's a massive positive! So I'm happy that is going to be ok.
That scares me a bit about the couch to 5k as I seem to have stopped ovulating since I started it & assumed it was just a coincidence.. Which it may well be but it's got me thinking.
I assume you'll be still posting on the 12+ thread so I can stalk you on there?
At least you don't have long to wait until the ivf evening. I guess just let your DH know you're there for him & he doesn't need to be 'strong' by being silent.0 -
I've been saying that to him but it's like talking to a wall. He's just shut down. I suppose I can't get irate with him though as I do exactly the same when I'm crumbling. I just hate seeing him like this.
I'm surprised that he told me not to run (specifically not to run as well- before I'd even mentioned c25k). This whole TTC malarky is ridiculous- seems like you're damned if you do and damned if you don't! I'll be going swimming and riding my bike to work I think. I might see if there's a good pilates DVD around too.
The frightening thing about it being so soon now is that I've comfort eaten solidly for the past 2 months. I've gained almost a stone which puts me right at the acceptable BMI limit. With 14 days to the appointment I'm going to have to take drastic measures I think or they'll bounce me back! Might have to go back on the hideous shake diet for short term loss...
You won't be rid of me that easy- I drift between here and the 12+ thread but I think I'll concentrate mainly over there tbh.0 -
Tcd glad that it was positive in that there are things they can do. Hope your DH opens up soon.
Also you have given me perfect reason not to exercise so thanks!
Lazy becca x ps no lists yesterday or today sorry! Work crazy!First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140 -

X to you creditcrunch. Sorry we have to be on this thread in such similar circumstances. I miscarried 4 weeks ago and think im ovulating at mo (though no good its doing me much to my frustration as dh is not well
) would have been my 12 week scan tomorrow so finding it a bit more difficult today but have been surprisingly upbeat up to now. Be kind to yourself x I think I am getting a little obsessed with ttc again but thats a lot to do with my age (38) from what I remember you have time on your side. Thinking of you I hate that we have to go through this.

Sorry to see you both back here Creditcrunch and Sophiasmum (in the nicest possible way). Hope you've got some support at home. Big hugs to both of you x
TACOD, your poor OHand poor you too, I know you really wanted a go at the clomid. Good to know the stuff about the exercise, my friend who has so far had one cycle of ICSI was told the same thing, she was allowed to swim but that was really about it, definitely no spin classes or body combat.
Claire sounds like your appointment went pretty well, and the specialist lady you'll be seeing definitely sounds good, fingers crossed it doesn't take too long to get an appointment.
Kynthia that is a LOT of cheese! I thought my DH was bad
Lily I didn't see the other thread but have caught up now. So glad everything is ok. Lots of love xx
FF has given me crosshairs this morning and says I'm 3 dpo. I reckon I'm only 2, not that it really matters either way. Last night we had one more try for good measure (thinking I was only 1 dpo) and I realised just how mechanical it has all become - I had a cake in the oven with the timer set, told DH he had 20 minutes max, and kind of just let him get on with it which is terrible really, I think I need to book us a weekend away with no opks, thermometer or TTC talk allowed.0
