How do I get medical evidence for esa

  • Thank you for everyones help.
We went for the medical today, took a letter with us from the transplant co ordinator which explained his conditions and medication etc, turns out they had a kidney dialysis nurse to assess my husband but the nurse had to refuse to do our assessment as he was my husbands nurse until he had the transplant 2 years ago so it was a conflict of interest. Another nurse had to see us but she didn't even examine him, she said the letter said it all and just by looking at him she could see how much help he needed and apologised for even calling us in.
She asked about adaptions in the house and did I help him in the shower and to the toilet. Does he drive, do we have any kids and dates of operations and when was he registered partially sighted.
Seemed to go quite well, just need to wait and see which group they put us in now.

I do know how you feel. The dd was refused it on first attempt, then RM messed up with her mail and the tribunal she was marked as awol :/ When she finally applied again (under the 6 month rule), she went straight to the support group. BTW, I don't think she should have been in the support group first time round, but definitely should have made WRAG. If they had only got it right the first time round it would have saved a lot of stress :)

Turn up in the prescribed powered chair.
This is evidence of its own.

Mobilising unaided by another person with or without a walking stick, manual wheelchair or other aid if such aid can reasonably be used

If he cannot do a) or b) - then he is entitled to the support group.
A prescribed powerchair is hard to get, and is not given on a whim.

I don't see why "other aid" wouldn't include a powered wheelchair. He is able to mobilise 50m in his powered wheelchair.

It's only manual chairs that are counted in mobilising. If you can't self propel, then it's support group. I think by other aids they mean crutches and scooters. The DD hadn't had her chair assessment when she went for her ESA WCA, so was in an assistant propelled one. The doctor she seen was of the opinion that she wouldn't manage to self propel in a manual wheelchair given her upper body problems too. Hence why she went into support group.
