As they should have kept it and taken it off the streets.
Take it to your banks and swop it for a real one. The ymight have to send it off but you will get your £10 back.....

The bank have no duty to give you anything back and do have a duty to take it from you to be destroyed. The shop that gave it to you probably missed it. What I have done in the past is gone back to the same store bought something for next to nothing with a £20 pound note knowing I would get ten pound note back and then gone to the customer services desk and told them that I had been given it as change and believe it is a fake. They may argue with you but they do tend to exchange it as a good will gesture
Wrong both ethically and legally but who likes to lose money.
