My mum used to cut my fringe. Looked absolutely dreadful, but don't let that put you off. She was just rubbish at it.

I've been using a pair of electric clippers to do my own hair for years. Nobody has ever said anything and I'm happy with it. I got fed up of going to my local barber and him rushing it then asking me for £10, just wants you in and out as fast as possible. I've tried a few barbers but I'd rather just do it myself, only takes 10 minutes and I don't have to drive miles, queue, get ripped off then come away unhappy with the service

What's the worst that can happen lol
  • The last two times i've been to a hairdresser I've seen the amount of hair they have cut off and wondered was it really worth it?!
I used to do a ponytail cut which is dead easy, just look for the nicky clarke version, I need my hair a bit longer though as I don't want a fringe, plus I have absolutley loads of hair, it's so thick any other method would be too difficult:o

I've been cutting my own hair for years (long with layers), but went to hairdressers recently for a change of style (bob) but it's too much work so I'll let it grow again and do it myself. I also cut my DS (2) hair, short sides and back. Distracting him with raisins usually :)

to be honest I would have refused to give them any money until they had corrected their mistake. tough if the other customers have to wait, it should have been done properly the first time around!

Has anyone tried those CreaClip things? They're quite pricey (I think £20-£30) but they are supposed to be helpful in cutting hair.

OP I looked on YouTube at a few videos and I did a pony-tail cut in my hair. It looked a lot better, but it's obviously not a professional haircut. I went to the hairdressers recently as i wanted the length taking up, and that would have been tricky to do on my own hair, as you can't see at the back. I notice even hairdressers don't cut their own hair!

I have bought & recently used this kit to cut my dd hair for the first time. I can't find the youtube video i used, but was def American if that helps!.

The video i watched actually used the clips in the kit, so you can keep the cut even & not be confused with all the other hair around.

Noone said it was bad/wonky, so i can't be that bad!! :D
No one said it was gonna be easy!
