Lemon Madeira cake made. Will sandwich with lemon curd. I have ready to roll icing left in yellow and red, so we'll cover in yellow and I'll see if I can cut out some lettering in red :money:

Cousin has text me, they have seen the light and have moved their holiday dates to match mine (I'm the only one who can't just go whenever) so it looks like a full-on two weeks with the loopy lot :D it's gonna be mad!

Right, going upstairs to bath the tots!

    Afternoon all :D

Quite day here. Ex is away so I have DD today for a change and she made this mistake of saying she was bored ;):rotfl: So I decided that she can help with the housework :D She's doing the lists & I'm supervising when its a new job. She knows how to dust, vacuum & make beds so I'm letting her do those unsupervised. ;) New skills learnt so far include cleaning the kitchen worktops & hob properly and using the WM to wash cleaning cloths. :rotfl: I'm just about to take the duster/polish/vacuum upstairs for her to do there. Hello all, please may I (re) join?

I'd be ever so grateful *winks*.
  • Bossymoo my kids have started and eventually left all sorts of clubs/activities over the years. I just look at it as offering the opportunity and if it is not for them leave it for all of your sakes (and your purse). There are a massive amount of things to try in life and she is so tiny. Maybe she'll be in the England ladies football team one day!

Lazy weekend planned here. I'm going to have my 4th cuppa and tehn do an hour in the back garden before having a shower and taking DS2 to work and doing a bit of shopping in town.

Enjoy whatever you are doing ladies.

    I second this!

All kids are different - one of my DD's loved footy, one hated it! DD1 played everything going until the end of primary school - they struggled to fit it all in on her final report - footy, cricket, table tennis, drama, choir, recorders, flute, cluster orchestra..the list was enormous! This was in addition to Guides and playing in a training band!

DS did footy, cricket and cubs until the end of primary school.

DD2 did nothing after Brownies - which she hated! (DD1 loved brownies and had a sash full of badges by the time she went to Guides.)

All learned to swim, but none were ever going to be Olympians! But living in a city on 2 rivers I deemed it essential - all can swim really well and enjoy it ( but none go regularly these days!)

It is worth trying things - but not worth stressing over! If she wants to go to football then let her try!

Bought a welly boot and shoe tray today in home bargains for £1.99 to tidy up the utility room. It can fit 3 pairs of walking boots so ideal for when we have been out with the hound. Hopefully it will stop bits of dried mud dropping all over the floor.
    similar to this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shoe-and-Boot-Tray-/160881401208?pt=UK_Storage&hash=item2575475d78

    June £232.66, May £310.36, April £310.19, March £287.32, February £250.18, January £257.24

You did well in your 2HC, mrs-mp :T

:eek::eek: I've just seen a sparrowhawk swoop down and take one of our lovely long-tailed tits that was feeding on the fat block, then sit on the fence to eat his lunch - he's now moved up into a nearby tree :eek::eek: Nature can be so cruel :( but I suppose the sparrowhawk has to survive just like anything else. And now a red kite is flying over - that doesn't happen very often.

Why couldn't they all come on the Big Garden Birdwatch day?!?!?

 indeed. I saw something which I think was a lady sparrowhawk sitting on our bird table today; never seen one perched there before. How exciting I thought; but if it is likely to eat my 'fairies' aka long-tailed tits, it can just *****er off.

Well what a day's flying; nothing like imminent visitors to focus the mind.
    - wm
    - thorough clean/polish/tidy of en suite
    - hoovered all upstairs
    - changed bed linen
    - de cluttered dressing table and paired stray earrings
    - quick flick round guest bathroom and spare room
    - made soup
    - made a cake
    - made a fruit salad
    - helped oh blitz kitchen.

Typical, dishwasher packed up just when we've got people staying and guests to dinner :(

    Time for a pre-guest coffee I think.

Welcome back hun, anything we can do to 'help' you?

Nice time in the garden this morning until it was too wet to do much more. Been to town browsing this afternoon and did the food shop whilst I was out.

Little catchup on here now before starting dinner.

  • Good afternoon!

All lists now finished for this week :j:j:j:j DS has started half-term and has nominated tomorrow to clean/tidy his room ;) So I've substituted other jobs for Friday's list :p

DH and I are off for a "snowdrop walk" on the Wolds tomorrow, with tea and cake in the Reading Rooms at the halfway point :)

See you on the next thread
:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:
  • Mum of 2 DS has helped me sort out loads of washing into colours today:D, and has stirred Skint Baby Holly's babygrows round in the utility sink where they are soaking, he has had great fun.

Ionafan the EX is going back tomorrow morning - I have got to take the car out for a test run in a little while:j, but come tomorrow afternoon the Skint Ritz will resume normal operation with Skint Baby Holly, cot, gibble and me vacating DD1 room and going back into my room with DS (he has missed me soooo much:()

In some ways looking forward to being able to drive again, I feel like I have my wings clipped when I can't drive. Even if I can't bear to make contact with the outside world, I can shut myself in my mental box, put the key in the ignition and drive anywhere and just stay inside the car. the big uns can sort themselves out, but it is just getting the motivation to get out for DS and now of course Skint Baby Holly.

Food shopping with a trolley is still a no -no, I tried yesterday with a double trolley at Mr T, and didn't have much in it before I felt the strain, so I will be doing an online shop at Mr A and make them pay the delivery cost, which ironically costs less than the petrol to get there....so that is my plan of action next week.

My diabolical DR which although cleaned according to lists, has looked more like a room from a war torn country for 5 and half years, has now had the stack pipe boxed in, the old carpet which has had a great big semi circle missing in for yonks has been ripped up and taken to dump, and the "temporary" repair to the ceiling from a leak in the bath from several years back along with offending walls have had a fresh coat of plaster this morning.

The dining table is now in the LR until further notice....good job I gave one of the broken sofas away ages ago, otherwise I wouldn't have had room for table. The other sofa is going to dump tomorrow, as I snagged myself on it when I sat down it again yesterday:eek::mad::eek::mad:

The reason behind this hive of activity? My Diamond Health Visitor had a quiet word with the EX when I was getting her changed ready for weighing at the beginning of this week. Apparently all she claimed to have said was "you need to get your skates on making this place habitable, so its safe now there are two littles running about!"

Just so pleased she succeeded where everyone else had tried and failed :D

Still chipping away at things in no particular order today, as Skint Baby has a blocked nose this afternoon and is really clingy.

Still, I have got meat out of freezer for roast tomorrow and assortment of nice veggies for DD2 if she decides to put in an appearance , be nice to have the house back to a bit of peace and quiet:)

Right time to find my keys and get the motor running....catch up soon.

Hugs stick and spoons in the jar, help yourselves:p
The cold never bothered me anyway

DD has declared she's having a break since upstairs is done :rotfl: I've said okay as she's worked hard compared to usual.

I've managed to get March's calender printed out finally and just working on April. I'm editing each month individually so as to make it as tailored to our house as possible. I'm sick of scrawling dates in and missing things like peoples birthdays! Now if there is a birthday that month the whole day is orange to remind me ;) Ex was supposed to send me a list of dates (special birthdays coming up in his family), but he hasn't so I'm trying to remember whats what and work out how old people are based on their birthdays in relation to DD's :rotfl: If I miss anyone, I'll just have to get the coloured pencils out. I know there's at least one I'm missing :o
