    Question.....

If they bypassed the immobilizer to get the vehicle started in the first place, what use is it going to be?

well i just assumed that theres some thieves out there that are pros and have ways of getting past them despite the efforts in the design and process of it working to stop them.

i think the cheapest way to get peace of mind here is to get a 40 quid cobra cat 2 immoblilizer fitted and also the one i linked from amazon. so the cobra one works passively and the amazon one would text me if anything is going on. in which case i can send an sms back to activate the 2nd immobilizer on that amazon one.

i dont know though if its possible to have more than 1 fitted to any car. maybe you can do something like hook the passive cobra one up to the ignition and if somehow in unlikely event someone got past it and got the car moving then the 2nd one that sends me an sms alert can have an sms sent back to activate a cut off to the fuel supply, like x2 saftey nets?

if that worked then its just 40 + 54 + x1 labour fee for someone to fit it properly and doesnt have to be paid for on a yearly fee. better idea than the track 5?

i have found a gps tracker on amazon with good reviews that has no subscription charge which just gets fitted to parts of your car such as accelerator or gearbox and you can receive an sms if the car is stolen and then you can sms the device back to immobilise the car. all that is free and it seems you could use it in theory in a foreign country, all it needs is a SIM card in that has credit - simple as that. you then just program it to recognise your number or a few others and it seems it does not matter which country you are in.
Thats a hell of a long and excited sentence! You almost sound like you're trying to drum up business for it!

Although for the record it was three sentences. :)
  • so im gonna guess crap support from police nationally is a part of british life.

All depends how important/influencial/well connected you are, best be self sufficient and defend your own here unless one of the above.
  • well i am gonna get those 2 immobilizers and a steel wheel lock. wheel lock is unbreakable and will stop car from being moved or hot wired. cobra immobilizer will stop car from being hotwired or ignition tampered with.
amazon immobilizer is last resort if someone did managed to find and shut off cobra, i can know where the car is and i can remote cut off the fuel supply and use coordinates on google maps to go get it.

hopefully be strong enough to smash my baseball bat around the thieves head if he is still there.
  • Just how much is this car actually worth?

I would suspect a few hundred quid.

I think he needs to stop reading the manufacturers waffle and start looking on youtube.

There are video's showing you howto defeat most locks. Quickly/Quietly and without damage sometimes.

There are better sites of course, Some will even sell you kits for each specific device..

Isnt the internet a wonderful thing...

You may find they will steal all your security and leave the car behind. Its worse less than the security your looking at.
