You can grow pea shoots indoors now, makes a nice change from eating lettuce leaves.0

Just a few tomatoes, sweet peppers and coriander planted in pots yesterday to go on kitchen windowsill. So exciting now waiting for the first signs of growth0

I've found the site What can I plant now? quite useful for finding things you can plant early.0

I'm itching to start too! Bought some bits and bobs earlier, got a couple of books out of the library, and then low and behold heavy snow again!

Far too early for tomatoes, they grow quickly so April is plenty soon enough.
Sweet peas are fine as they're hardy, they'll need to be under glass though it's too cold and wet for outdoors, they'll be fine grown in tubes in a cold frame or greenhouse, pinched out at 2 inches ready to go out in the spring. Hardy annuals can be started off in trays under glass, neither need any extra heat.
Sweet peppers are another you could start now but need a little more heat, a heated propagator or similar if you have one. Geraniums (pelargoniums) too, both are very slow growing so benefit from an early start. Aubergines are somewhere inbetween peppers and tomatoes as regards growth, say March.Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.0 -
Just planted my Dalia bulbs in a cold frame....It is good to get going..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
I'm in process of transferring allotments so I'm going concentrate on getting beds ready for next few weeks I did cut some rhubarb off my plant to take to my new allotment I'm hoping it grows strong
I have a fence to make and generally get tidy before I start growing (even though I'm dying to plant) they will soon catch up0 -
