PCN issued by police - should I appeal?

They wrote on the front top "45 minute parking restriction" - so I assume they are used to people not knowing what they're being ticketed for! I then looked all around thoroughly and couldn't see a sign. I eventually spotted one further down the street but from where my car was it was side on and you couldn't see what it was at all. I had to walk several car lengths down for it to be visible.
If it matters, I was parked in the last space of the long bay.
Co incidently my Polish colleague who is a catholic and attends church well...religiously. Got a parking ticket last Sunday night while he was in church.
He is normally really switched on when it comes to parking but he parked on a bus stop as it was late on a sunday night and he did not think the traffic wardens would be out.
I said the same thing to him, but he did not understand the meaning of the saying0 -
Even if you parked in a bay that had some restrictions and you exceed these, it is still worth checking, as suggested, with pepipoo.
The reason is simple. Parking bays and signs have to comply with regulations and sometimes those that establish bays often seem to get the procedures incorrect. They expect you to comply, so it is reasonable for them to comply as well.
So before you actually pay, if you have time left within the settlement timescale, you have absolutely nothing to lose by posting your details as per their instructions on pepipoo. It could save you money - it might not, but there is no downside I can see.
They have some specialists that can nit-pick through tickets and will give you a straight, informed opinion.0 -
Where about is this? Is it a decriminalized area or civil enforcement?
Police can still issue FPN's but its normally for a reason in a CEO area!0 -
What a shame that yet another post has deteriorated into a "I'm right, you're wrong" type. People come on here to ask for help, not watch verbal tennis (not sure how you watch something verbal but you know what I mean)I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Dont argue with them, a quick search of google would reaveal areas where pcso do issue PCN and others FPN notices, but this is not the point, the OP mistakenly posted what they had received so the point is mute.
However what is not acceptable is posters who attack those "trying to save people money"
This is money saving expert.
Out of the woodwork they crawl to spite their bile with comments such as "serves you right"
"glad you got caught"
If they can not help save people money why dont they just **** Off ! and go post somewhere else.
The OP should take the matter to pepipoo where expert advice is available with regards to signs and road markings, bays, tro orders.
Trolls that spout bile and gloat at others mis-fortune get banned.
Motorists are seen as cash cows to be milked and they need to fight back, frustrate the system and drag it down.
If all who received parking Tickets in one day dragged them to adjudication the whole system of shafting the motorists would be dragged down as it would take years to hear one days adjudications.Be happy...;)0 -
I agree we should fight back however unfortunately the only way of fighting a FPN is a trip to the Magistrates.
An FPN is an offer to except guilt and pay a penalty, or go to court and contest it and/or offer mitigation. Great if you win but [STRIKE]can[/STRIKE] will be more costly then the fixed penalty if you don't.
So in moneysaving terms it is probably best to pay it!:(0 -

And the same will be said on there as has been on here, FPN's pay. By all means have a nice day at magistrates court with the lovely folk that frequent them, and also be prepaired to lose especially if the magistrate has had a sh ite day or goes with the flow and agrees with the plod, it will then cost you even more as you will have to pay costs etc
FPN's are never worth the gamble unless you are 100% sure you can prove beyond reasonable doubt that you are correct and the plod is wrong, therefore the advice is nearly always to pay which ever forum they post on.You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -

PCSOs do not issue PCNs, they only issue FPNs in areas where illegal parking is still dealt with as a criminal offence.
In decriminalised areas, parking is controlled only by local authority CEOs who issue PCNs. PCSOs have no powers over parking in those areas.
The general advice on here and Pepipoo is to pay FPNs and appeal PCNs.0 -

I see it as similar to bank charges, I am careful and do not pay them but the people that do subsidise my free banking. Parking tickets are the same in the sense (with councils etc) that taxes are kept down due to some people being careless or lazy and paying fines into the coffers. The vast majority can be avoided by just being careful where you leave your car.0
