Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Right so a spend on groceries this morning, then nothing else spent as we've been painting the nursery, now waiting to put up the furniture.

    My plans for the week

Sunday - out for lunch, paid for by joint account - £0
    Monday - Petrol - £25. Bunny sawdust - £10
Tuesday - Hubby goes back to Afghan. :(:(
Weds - Groceries and bunny veg - £20
    Thurs - NSD
    Fri - NSD
    Sat - Groceries - £10

    & Misc - £10

Total = £75 - Fingers crossed (with £25 of this carried over from last weeks budget)

Hi all, I'll pledge £20 again this week, though it might be tight as I'm catching up with a few friends at some point. :T

    Thanks for starting ETO!

    Going for £20 this week

Easily made last weeks budget so want a challenge :-P
  • Thanks for the thread ETO and hope you enjoy the rest of your time with hubby before he goes back.

Going to pledge £20.00 again this week. The plan is:

Sunday: some baking bits for cake for work mates
    Monday - Saturday: hopefully NSDs

Have my eye on some khaki jeggings at sain5bury5 but telling myself I don't really need them. Have some of clothes budget left to buy them if I want to though.

    Thanks for the thread again!!!

    Had a productive day...

Went shopping and did the 'PoundLand', '99p Shop' and 'Lidl' circuit... Never been to any before... First 2 were great - lots of bargains... I didn't think Lidl was that much cheaper to be honest.

I just stuck to things I would normally buy so was all good :D

Saturday is a funny day - because on the challenge it's a free day... I think I might have to include what I spend in with Sunday's budget, as it's the only day I can reliably do a proper shop. Hope that's ok.

    Spends so far: £24.37

I also reclaimed a parking ticket from the cinema from December for £3.00! Better in my money box than theirs!!!

Planning a spend free day tomorrow!!!

    :T

  • Hi everyone!

Thanks ETO for starting us off again this week. I managed to have mostly NSDs last week but had to spend 50p buying a new lighter lol so that's a spend of £0.50 for the week! Nearly purple lol! I'm pledging £10.00 again for this week and hoping for a NSD filled week lol! Thanks for the motivation and encouragement folks! I also wanted to say thanks for all the well wishes, I'm on the mend, slowly but surely does it. It's frustrating but at least it's all going in the right direction. Have a great week everyone!

    Cheers
