You are taking the discussion away from the OPs question, you can moralise all you want but the point is you are not helping here at all. Yes put reasonable points in that are relevant but your scenario is ridiculous as its not the circumstances here .
As I said if you have a problem with the advice its probably not to contribute because as you can see you take the thread of track and onto other things, if you want to discuss this create a thread about it instead of hijacking this one.
Not so. I responded to post #16 with my post #19.
You then wrote in response "And I repeat here, we are not here to judge people only to offer impartial advice, if you have a problem with that I suggest that you don't contribute further, as people on here will firstly try and help."
I have simply responded to that point. I gave an example to challenge your assertion. You chose to belittle that as it didn't support your statement. Since my posts were prefect sequiturs to the statement you made, then there is no hijack.0 -
Snore Snore!, I hope the OP has gone to pepipoo, they don't go off at a tangent.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Yes it's a great forum with a far more mature attitude to discussions than this one. Some "regulars" on here, if also members of pepipoo display more mature contributions as well, if they adhere to their forum conditions, one of which is quoted below
Content of posts"
We'd like to remind anyone posting here that the forum Terms of Use that you have agreed to specifically prohibit the use of defamatory or abusive content. It's perfectly possible to communicate your message without using terms such as "crook", "scam" and "illegal" when referring to individuals, organisations or their practices.
And to anticipate, yes I am a member but also choose to contribute on here as there are interesting threads on both.0 -
As are a few of us on here, it gets very difficult to help when the op's topic is not kept to.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Ok. Point taken.
But I do get the hump when those who express other views are ganged up on (ILW for example) and told to take a hike.0 -

Take a look at his first post on this thread, how is that offering constructive advice ? Or his second for that matter. And I'm sure he's big enough to defend his own actions on here. It appears that from your viewpoint that's its okay to post anything on here, but it cannot be challenged in any way. Does that sum it up ?When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

And by the way keep to the topic and don't divert from the OP questionYou are being ridiculous and you know it ! As I said above if you have a problem with the advice people are giving its best not to contribute further.as you can see your thread has been taken off track by the morals of some.
The self righteousness of these contributions is truly staggering. I agree it is not all that helpful to post saying "He should not have done it. Hanging is too good for him" but it is still an open forum with a procedure if a post is inappropriate rather than this contributor disapproving and issuing his instructions.0 -
Seeing as we are on this thread to try and help, if the OP were to get a post saying "tough, its your own fault", then thats not exactly helpful nor in the spirit of the forum, and I'm not surprised a forthright poster told them to take a hike, as you eloquently put it. We are here to try to help, either by giving advice or pointing the poster in the direction of those who can. We save the "anti's" for the DT forum, unless you are a PPC that is.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

It's not self righteous it's trying to keep a thread on topic, there is nothing staggering about it at all, I mean its truly awful asking people to keep to topic. It is an open forum but if you also keep to decorum the topic would not go off track so much, advising the OP to post on pepipoo is advised partly because of people taking the thread off in tangents that don't help at allWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. Ok, at the risk of further "hijack" accusations, can I merge your two last posts and try to answer your point?
The basic point of contention between us is the interpretation of what this forum is. You, and others, believe it is solely and exclusively a help vehicle. I agree that this probably its main benefit to those who choose to contribute.
But if you read the very purpose of why it is here from the Forum guide it clearly says this.
"We hope this forum is a great MoneySaving community for people to chat and discuss consumer issues, free from nasty comments and people trying to sell to you...........Remember, the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. If you don’t like someone, their situation, their question or feel they’re intruding on ‘your board’ then please bite the bullet and think of the bigger issue"
Now that's a selected quotation but it clearly states that it is a chat and discussion vehicle and, like it or not, some of the contributors have stated clearly in this thread by their posts that they don't necessarily agree.
And, Peter, from other threads on here, you must surely concede that the "free from nasty comments" bit above is widely ignored by many of the regulars. (I hasten to add that this last bit is not aimed at Stroma, whose comments re purpose of forum may differ from the guidelines, but has always been polite as far as I am concerned)
But, as you say, we are straying from the main point of the thread but at least you can see where some people - including me - are coming from.0
