Has anyone mentioned the possibility of a scaled up hex yet? Haven't read the whole thread tbh.

    Cheers

I have a nice man coming from Biasi on Wednesday, so thanks for all your imput. I have found the card for our original plumber (heating engineer thank you Macman) and his credentials are as follows:
EngTech and MCIPHE - I can only assume that in this instance he didn't need the money!

Sorry but not a case of didnt need the money?
A case of shouldnt have been involved in the 1st place as NOT QUALIFIED!!!

  • so don't any of those credentials on his card mean anything? Looked quite important to a lay person...

Not for gas, as has been mention so many times, that needs a Gas Safe Registered Gas Installer with the right modules to work on the appliances and instalations involved, NOTHING ELSE IS, and "lay people" have been quite sufficiently warned time and time again of the requirements!!!

  • Excuse me, 'Mr Ted' but your post sounds rather aggressive in tone. I had no way of knowing about these qualifications before starting this thread, and I'm sure I'm not the only person in my area who have used this man and not realised either. He was highly recommended by my local blog as someone who done very good work to other people's boilers. After taking the advice very kindly given on here I am now using a heating engineer recommended by Biasi.

Yes they may seem that because they are, as I get fed up with the same old problems caused by people doing what they are not qualified to do, and the naivety of posters!
Also posters who do not seem to see the warnings on other posts about unregistered or cowboy registered so called gas engineers, and the fact that the Gas Safe and gas safety issues have been well publicized in the media!
Do you have to wait until your on WATCHDOG before the message gets across???

Sorry but surely common sense, if that can be defined, says check what the requirements shoukl be if you are not familiar with what should be done?
Asking after a situation has developed is closing the door after the horse has bolted!

Again sorry but I get dumbfounded, as mistakes with gas can mean you wont be around to see the horse bolt?

  • Thanks for your reply Mr Ted, and thanks everyone on this thread for all of your advice - much appreciated

  • OP someone can have all the titles & belong to as many trade organisation as they can get into but this doesn't mean they are legally able to work on a gas appliance, the only thing that matters is that they are Gas Safe Registered & have the required elements listed on the back of their Gas Safe card, however & this is were it gets more difficult for the public, just because it says they are legally able to work on a boiler it doesn't necessary mean they know how to fix it, alot of guys have that as an element because it allows them to install a boiler however if something goes wrong with it alot haven't got the first clue how to repair it, which is why we always say try & get a recommendation from friends or neighbours
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

So do not let the new RGI in until you have seen his GSR ID, or check him on the GSR site first.
