If I was a betting man I'd also say the diverter valve.
Your 'plumber' has not attempted to make any proper diagnosis, be he GSR or not. Get someone in who is, and can be bothered to do the job properly.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Thanks everyone, I will get a second opinion. I really appreciate your help THANKS!
  • gotta say i agree with MM divertor is the first place i'd be looking
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
  • And would it be possible to get hold of a divertor valve for a Biasi 24s? The boiler is pretty old - over ten years I think. I am not thinking of doing it myself, just want to be prepared for anything the plumber might say...
    Thanks in advance :)

Yes. Expensive....but might not need that:eek:
  • no it might not dwn & i certainly wouldn't be changing it just for the sake of it, but given the OP's description it would be one of the first things i'd be checking

As you've already been informed, you don't want a plumber. You want a GSR RGI (who may or may not also do general plumbing work).

  • I have a nice man coming from Biasi on Wednesday, so thanks for all your imput. I have found the card for our original plumber (heating engineer thank you Macman) and his credentials are as follows:
EngTech and MCIPHE - I can only assume that in this instance he didn't need the money!

The only credentials that matter are GSR-no one else is legally permitted to work on gas appliances.
