For the last 8 years, I've taken my sons to Ikea for tea on Valentine's Day! Presume we shall do the same again this year. (I also find Ikea quiet on mother's day)0

off to Paris for a few days!
Usually we are MSE by doing a set lunch that day at fancy place rather than an expensive evening meal out.0 -

That's a genius idea, you'll have the place to yourselves!
I'm sure Ikea used to be a shop, but now it seems to be a date location. You can't carry a big rug or a curtain pole through the little paths without knocking over at least 6 or 7 couples holding hands and strolling.0 -
I may send someone a card from a secret admirer, as that would be the true meaning of valentine's day before it was hijacked by restaurants and card companies (incidentally, most cards are designed in mind for existing couples, so there's isn't a great deal of choice).
A few years ago I spent valentine's day alone, stuffing my face with an M&S meal for two. Where there is no romance, there can always be greed.0 -
I barter services with my favourite restaurant. I'm in credit with them at the moment so we'll be enjoying a lovely free meal - very MSEMake £2026 in 2026

Actually not single this year so will be doing something. We're going to see the new Die Hard film, but i will prebook tickets (saving 10%) and book for the morning so its cheaper. And i think we'll go for a meal, but i'll decide nearer the day when i've found some vouchers.
Not spending a fortune on presents, just a book i think he'll love and a photo in a frame.
This will probably all be cheaper than the money i spent on myself last year drowning my singledom sorrows

Come to think of it, last year I WASN'T single on Valentine's Day! It was my first (and only) in a couple for 9 years. I was quite looking forward to it. Got nothing except a card which ex boyfriend wrote and sealed in front of me then handed to me. :-(
So back to normal this year. Phew!0
