I shall walk the dogs past the people queueing in the freezing cold at the nearby restaurants and feel smug. :)
  • No exchange of cards or presents between us; but if it's not actually blowing a hurricane on the day, DH and I are going to take a winter picnic (hot flask of stew and a bottle of Prosecco ;)) down to the little sandy cove below our house and beachcomb for an hour or two.

In the evening perhaps another bottle of Prosecco and a takeaway of sorts followed by a couple of DVDs of really old romantic movies...........this year will be the 15th anniversary of DH proposing too :)

Just to take all the romance out of that and go all MSE, the Prosecco was half price in Tesco and the Indian takeaway has a 'free Naan' offer on. :D

    MSEing it by ignoring it.

OH and I have a valentines day most weeks - we call it date night and believe it vital for the life of our marriage. Pre kids and now, we take time to make sure our relationship remains solid. No cards or red roses each week, but then love isn't about those things.

It's very MSE as it saves on divorce costs!

Fwiw we will exchange cards, but in an MSE tip, we will exchange cards we bought before, adding a new message I to it. It's a nice idea ,...swapping the cards seeing these things every year for years and years.

I am making the starter (king prawns) and the pudd (sticky toffee pud) and DH is cooking the main (probably half a cow if he has his way!), a bottle of red and a card each and thats about it.

We haven't been out for a valentines meal in years but as we go out for meals when we fancy it, its not a problem. :)

Narrowly escaped a poorly planned parent/teacher interview (school have changed the date to 13th). For once oh isn't working, so one of us will prolly cook a slab of cow with all the trimmings and some alchohol
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Create a row on 12th and storm off saying we are finished - Creep and crawl back on 16th - confession that life is unbearable alone and beg forgiveness!! :rotfl:

  • Right, I am about to share one of my greatest secrets with you. If you dare tell anyone I will hunt you down and stab you. This method is really really simple, it requires very little work but looks like you have done loads.

Follow these simple steps exactly and your missus will have no choice but to nosh you off:

    1. Play it cagey, explain you have a surprise sorted out but you don't want to spoil it.

    2. Obtain the following ingredients:

    Chicken breasts x 2
    Prosciutto or Palma Ham
    Pesto
    Sunblushed tomatoes
    Mozzarella
    Penne Pasta
    Red Roses x 12
Candle x 1, burning for the use of.

    3. Cut a pocket into the chicken breasts, stuff the pocket with pesto and mozzarella. Wrap the now stuffed pockets in the Ham, bake in the oven until cooked.

    4. Boil the Penne.

    5. Arrange the candle and roses on the table so it looks like you have made a big effort.

    6. Serve the Penne with some more pesto, put the chicken breast on top. Scatter a few sunblushed tomatoes on top to add a bit of colour and ponce it up a bit.

    7. Reap the benefits.

If this fails get a new missus, or a kitten.
