  • They have been in for 2.5 years, labour were in for 13 years, neither have succeeded in getting enough small homes built so its not just the coalitions fault. Its a fact that developers like building big houses they make more profit. Its a shame that labour allowed the sale of council homes to continue without replacing them.

Everything's the fault of capitalism and, left wing or right wing, in this country capitalism is here to stay. We all love money!

  • I had no problem with the theory of selling a council house but only on a build one, sell one principle, in that order.

Allowing people to buy their own council house was not a bad policy

That is obviously a matter of opinion, not fact. :)

I don't actually object to the bedroom tax in principle.

However, I do think that it needs some common sense applied to it. Many people, even those who want to downsize can't because of the lack of properties. It would probably still be cheaper for HB to pay the rent on a 2 bedroom property (council) than a 1 bedroom rate for private rent. So how about giving those a waiting list for a smaller home a discount on that 14% as they are showing willing to downsize.

Disabled people will still need to pay the bedroom tax unless they are on MRC or above.

I do believe in downsizing and I did it to free up my property, maybe if more people did that, then there wouldn't be the shortage. Nor would the government feel the need to do this. Although, given this government I wouldn't put anything by them.

Granny if over a certain age won't need to give up her home I believe.

No capital letters, no full stops, repeated double commas, spelling mistakes galore. Doesn't look like you're in any position to criticise and just looks like you're bitter because you aren't getting it your own way.

Sorry but if there's a couple living in a four bedroom house and a family of five can't find a place because there are only one bed places around then it makes sense to try and push the couple out and into a smaller place. It's only bricks and mortar.
