yes ive had a few wins on twitter in fact last week i won a shearings twitter comp which is a selection of goodies which ive yet to receive. the same day i won a fb competition for some luxury chocs! i only do the comps when i see them on here but with fb as i dont have a mobile i do communicate with my kids via fb so if i see a comp while i am on there i enter:D

I started comping in August last year and have won 2 twitter comps using links on this forum only. Didn't know you could spam tweets (whatever that is). The first twitter comp I won was the Channel 4 Hotel GB one (from memory I think I tweeted something every hour) and the second one is the Shearings one where I just retweeted once and I received 'the goodies' last week.

BTW Laura don't get too excited, the goodies are a pen and keyring...lol. Just cheap stuff but still a win.

  • article was an insight ! i've recently started twitter, so far 1540 tweets = 1 win. On that win i did also interact with the promoter.

I read through this thread yesterday and thought I'd try retweeting-c+p retweeting and leaving a nice message whilst I comp. I probably entered about 15 like this yesterday because it felt quite time consuming.

I'd only ever won three times on twitter, none being the normal follow and retweet comp.

This morning I had a tweet to say I'd won a Dancing on Ice mug. I looked back and saw that I'd retweeted once (without copy and paste) and also left a message saying I really wanted to win one with the same hashtags in (which was true ;) ). So I guess who knows whether it's really random?

Might just be a coincidence that I won but I'll probably stick at it this way for a while :)
  • When I started twitter comps (July last year), I was winning very regularly. Tons of people started following me because of it. Miss popular!

But I think twitaculous and twitninja have made it more difficult to win anything. Because of them, there's just so much more entries!

There's a site called back tweets which shows up all tweets with a particular link. So if you're doing a C&P tweet, don't forget to include the link. I don't know if companies use something like that or not, but just putting the idea across.

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like I've been blacklisted now! :rotfl:I also have conspiracies about promoters only choosing people with photo profile pics.:p

I've won a few things by entering at the end, but also by entering at other times as well. So pot luck as well! :)

I've never won a Twitter comp yet, but have entered quite a few. Good to read these tips (thanks for posting).

Must admit I'm still getting used to Twitter, it wouldn't surprise me if I had won something and didn't know about it!!

Do they always direct message you if you've won,if not how are you notified?

A lot of the time they just tag you in a tweet so check your mentions (the @connect button on your homepage) regularly or if you haven't messed with your settings you will probably get an email from Twitter when someone mentions you :)

It's not like Facebook where they just leave your name without any contact, so as long as you check your mentions and direct messages, you shouldn't miss out :)

I've had 2 twitter but it may have been more if you include the rafflecopter wins where it may have been the tweet or the follow and you have no way of knowing. The wins were both from the standard company RT and I normally only tweet once. As it's only a couple of clicks it's no hassle to be in the competition as not.

I use Twitter quite a lot, not just for comping, and I've had a few small wins (tickets and events mostly). If your tweet has been retweeted multiple times, it's very hard to see a full list of everyone who RT'd it, which is why I think things like Rafflecopter and Competwiton, while they might be a bit of a faff, are a better way for companies to make sure they're picking their winners fairly. It's not going to put me off entering, but when you've got a lot of comps to enter and not a lot of time, Twitter ones don't always seem like a priority because of this!
