It is often difficult to find out exactly when a twitter comp is finishing as well as some seem to drag on.
And I often see people winning with just a single re-tweet of the company tweet? (not just the fake ones lol)
I would think it good advice to do a ‘normal’ re-tweet and a cut and paste re-tweet for good measure as close as possible to the end of the comp?
It is a bit annoying though because you feel you are constantly entering the same comp just to be in with a chance.
It is annoying, would be far easier if all companies allowed just the 1 RT of the original tweet and no more. Less time consuming and everyone has the same chance. Was one in November where the winner had C&P 376 times the day it ended (I didn't count them, they had numbered each tweet at the end, and that is all they tweeted all day), with things like that going on is no point entering.
At the moment it is a case of C&P regularly just to be in with a chance as that's what the majority do, I tend to do a few a day. Will say after reading the article, have tried to RT some originals close to the end just to see if it made a difference, I did have 2 wins last week that way, trouble is that could genuinely have been pot luck but may have been because they only saw last 25 we will never know.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I never retweet more than once. And I still win. 17/24 last month were on twitter.
Also DO as the company ask - If they want you to answer a question, don't just C+P the tweetXX
I don't know how they choose people x

That's excellent & good to hear for those that are not confident on Twitter as it proves it can be done. When I first started I only did the 1 RT, I won 1 prize in 4 months, that's why I began C&P as I could see that's what the regular winners were doing.
Does make you wonder how they choose though, I do fairly well on there and have no complaints, but you do see some people winning 3-4 things a day regularly, week in week out. Given the volume of compers on there you would think they would be more evenly spread.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

This is ONLY to show my point. On monday, I won 4 things. Today, even before anything has been announced Ive had 4 wins. So which ever way it is done you can still win!
I always do a search for things I would like, such as books, garden things and electrical. I've found some super low entry ones where 10/11 people have entered. Example 'ask a question to the author and fave will win' I noticed everyone was asking about her characters so I went with her life and what she liked.
I agree, I think you just need to keep plodding on with them. Take time to sit and do them. (Today is a great day)
If you really want to win on twitter, take time to enter things you really want, low entry local boutiques are a great place to start. Tweet the company with the # and say something like 'hope you're having a nice day' or something
I hope that gives other people more insight into how someone else tweets differently, by only doing the one retweet.Reading the article, I won't change how I am. I've seen a few ask not to @ them (which is the C+P) some want you to, others don't care.
Even one which has 500 RT's you're still in with a chanceX

Just a bit of an update for anyone brave enough (or daft enough!) to run a competition on there. It is virtually impossible to track entrants by hand and do it fairly but after googling all and sundry I came across @TwitRand, been used by a couple of UK firms recently with their Twitter comps. You can put a # in their search box if you used one, not sure about any other means of searching and it will randomly select a person that used it. It selected a winner for me, the tweet was a RT of the original not a C&P and I did double check it to make sure all was ok as I hadn't heard of them before, but it appears to work well.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

WOW amazing any chance you can PM me your twitter id so I can follow and learn from a master? (i'm serious)
I agree it can help you win if you 'chat them up a bit?' won some men's toiletries from a french cosmetics company just for tweeting "Great to see a comp pour Les Hommes for a change!" They said in the winning tweet - got to admire his French? I'm from Wigan and can't speak French n'est pas lol
So much for random draw?0 -
I have won 5 prizes on twitter in 4 months (Aug-Nov) and when I look back, they were all comps that required an answer to be tweeted. I enter all the twitter comps, usually only hit RT button (no time to C&P), but will definitely try both from now on.0
