Just a follow up query for SP David

Is there a new warm home scheme for 2013/14? If I qualify automatically or do I have to re-apply, and if so when?

    Thanks

Are you eligible for a Warm Home Discount rebate during 2013/14?
If you are a ScottishPower domestic customer on 20th July 2013 (the qualifying date) and either:

aged under 75 and receiving only the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (no Savings Credit)
    or

aged 75 or over and are receiving the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (even if you get Savings Credit as well)
You do not need to apply to receive the rebate as you will receive a letter from the Department of Work and Pensions during 2013 telling you that you qualify for the Warm Home Discount rebate and advising you what to do next.

Under the scheme, electricity suppliers can also offer the Warm Home Discount rebate to other households providing certain elegibility criteria is met.

From July 8th 2013, if you are a ScottishPower domestic electricity customer and someone in your household meets the ScottishPower Warm Home Discount eligibility criteria, that person can apply for the Warm Home Discount rebate.

taken from the website today hope that helps

  • Warm Home Discount is a government scheme forced on the utility companies and thus they DO NOT want to be giving this money away and so will only do what the requirement states and no more. Customer service is not a requirement.

We are with SSE and applied about 6mths back via email (but did aknowledge at least) On saturday afternoon we get a letter confirming eligibility but now require proof by wednesday using a freepost envelope. There is no way we can get anything done until Monday now regards copying etc, that of course presumes people can get out to the local library etc to copy documents or arrange suitable help. This means the soonest the letter will go will be Tuesday. Granted some will get there by weds but very few I imagine. Call me cynical and all that but I'd say the hurdles are to stop the claims going through anyway. Bah.
