Scottish power warm home discount - no response, what now?

I am hoping that the Scottish Power rep will spot this one and help me out here...

I applied for the SP warm home discount, online, before christmas. It all seemed to go through okay, but I didn't get any acknowledgement or information, either by e-mail or post. Just a resounding silence.

So last week I emailed the complaint dept (on a e-add posted by the SP rep on here). Still no response.

All I want is confirmation that my application has gone through and has been accepted. Is that too much to ask?

Hi sorry we will get back to you by e-mail shortly but if your application was submitted online it will have been processed. All payments under WHD are to be made by 31/03/13 but there has to be sample verification carried out first. Once this is complete payments will be made. In the meantime we can't confirm if you'll get the payment. Sorry about that.

I understand that you can't confirm if I will get the payment, but surely there should be some kind of automatic acknowledgement by e-mail that the on-line application has been received? That is normal practice.

As it is, I have no proof that I made the application at all, and no acknowledgement that it even exists on your records.

I agree. It annoys me too as it fails to demonstrate Scottish Power value their customers. By not having any form of automated email response, it indicates to me that Scottish Power probably do not care about their customers, regardless of whether they are considered vulnerable or not. Exceedingly poor quality of service provision and definitely not up to the standard of service delivery one would hope to reasonably expect.

Any chance that Scottish Power will be looking into improving standards of customer service delivery please for next year? Or are you able to raise this and feed back to us on the expected strategy for next year with regard to acknowledgement receipts?

    Thanks

I have looked into this a bit further-if you applied online you should have received a pop-up box with a unique reference number at the end of the process LazyDaisy I am checking we have your application and I'll e-mail you back

    Thanks David

Hi, David, thanks for your reply.

I definitely did not receive a pop-up box with a reference number - but I have pop-ups blocked on my computer, so that's probably why.

I am a bit intrigued as to how you will be able to identify my application and e-mail from the number of people who must have contacted SP about the scheme...

You do realise that my name isn't REALLY Lazy Daisy, right? :D

Well done! I am amazed at your powers of deduction :j

Thanks for your e-mail, I feel much happier knowing the application has been received and logged.

at whatever cost. If there is no money to be made out of something they will probably ignore it as much as possible and may devise a way of charging you for their negligence..

I got such a terrible deal from Scottish Power that I felt I had to start a thread on the subject. They fiddled me out of £1000 and are now adding non-payment charges to my bills. To escape I would have to pay them another £1500 or so. I have tried to uncover a few of their tricks and write about them.

My thread is called: Scottish Power overcharged me £1300 and are evading making a refund

It might help give you an insight into how they do things, but also I am hoping to eventually get enough people to bring a 'class action' against them. It is the only hope most of us have of ever getting any justice.

Why are you filling numerous posts about Scottish power with information which is no use to the original query. You have your own thread which anyone can read if they wish, but I don't see how a query about the WHD is any way related to your issue.

Well, seeing as this is my thread, all I can say is that my experience with Scottish Power has been a positive one (as far as utility companies go).

  • Hi I applied for the home front discount last year and was given a reference number and I have still not recieved a payment on my account, I have phoned Scottish Power and was told that I should recieve the payment due to my son's severe disability but it still hasn't been recieved and I am now in debit on my bill, and I am worried about putting the heating on now, but know I have to for my son, would you be able to help David? It would put my mind at rest if I new it was going to be credited to my account.
