This is my fav fish pie recipe
http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3174/fish-pie--in-four-steps
I follow the basic premise, but not always added cloves or parsley. Sometimes I add egg, other times not. It's a recipe that takes you through the steps of making a fish pie, but you can then customise to your hearts content0 -
Hi everyone, sorry for the late reply I've been working the last few days. Just wanted to thank everyone who suggested I read a girl called jack, it's amazing and the recipes are great! all the other links and tips are saved and I'm working my way through them slowly. Just thought I'd update you on what I have been doing and what turned out good for me -
The gammon was amazing it did gammon, mash n veg - then gammon egg and chips then got stirred into a pasta bake! in all honesty if I could manage a gammon one week and a large chicken the other I'm doing ok.
I'm planning to make (don't know if anyone can link) the Spanish chicken recipe in the Morrison's magazine but have never used paella rice before so a bit unsure. Shopping day tomorrow and im taking my inspiration from jack this week, all basics and going to try falafels, mini pizzas and the curry so I will let you know how I get on.
A million thanks to everyone who takes the time to post and help others out here - I feel blessed that somewhere there is still people who care xxLiving the simple life0 -

i just found this girl's site a few days ago, but she's got some good ideas!!
also, my husband is on a low-cholesterol diet. all of the cookbooks i've found say to use meat as a "condiment" instead of a main focus food. we eat LOADS of veggies now, and not much meat at all. we play around with different spices so that meals dont always taste the same and get boring.0 -
I am going on maternity leave in August and i have been getting ready for the drop in wage and life in the house with 2 kids over winter (yes i know its only june) and have so far got lots ready, all the baby stuff is ready (2nd baby so not much to buy) freezer stock list (ill start batch cooking in aug) and big bills/spends have been paid or money put away for.
Now i have £10 - £15 each week left over from my weekly shop and id like to start double stocking some things that we use anyway and that will keep but i dont have much space and will have less when the 2nd comes so ive bought washing powder, dog food and a tray of uht milk but not sure what else to get. I have a good stock of tins in and pulses too but was thinking of big items - dont want to have to go out in the middle of winter for a large bag of dog food or big box of washing powder, plus these are expensive and got them on offer.
I was hoping to have a combination of extra store room items and stuff so i dont have to go out in bad weather if i can help it.
Any ideas of what else i could stock up on?
ThanksLiving the simple life0 -
Other members will be along shortly with loads of extra ideas, But just a few what about:-

Or if you think it may get spent because it's too accessible, you could buy supermarket saving stamps or high st shopping vouchers.
