If you move to a new Vodafone plan, the texts will be truly unlimited with no fair use policy. You have an old plan there.
My original deal was Sept '10 to End of Aug '12. I then had a one month deal to see iPhone 5 prices. Stuck with the 4 and got a 12 month deal.. Does this count as a new deal?0 -
Agreed the fact they say is unlimited, should mean exactly that. They had to stop saying unlimited for mobile data, they were all forced to stop stating that, so why havent they had to stop saying it about the texts. That said, every mobile deal you look at online ALWAYS has the actual amount of texts included, directly under the word "unlimited". But not sure how that would work if bought in a shop, they probably wouldnt go out their way to say its not actually unlimited.0

If you upgraded then the tariff would change , and many now have fair usage. If you have decent data package then use either facebook or whatsapp where messages are sent as data.. if you text other people with an iphone, then imessages (show in blue rather than green) use data instead of sms..0

Guidance from the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in September 2009 states that offers can be described as ‘unlimited’ even if a fair use policy exists, as long as the policy is “fair and reasonable”. This means that the usage of the majority of customers must be within the fair use limit, and only ‘atypical’ customers use more than this.
I dug this out, i think it might be relevant.0 -
Once again the mobile companies are showing their unlimited intelligence with the word "unlimited".0

Hmmm.... my network gives me unlimited calls/texts/internet/tethering with no fair use policies at all?I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
And?
Is this the same for all customers on all 'unlimited' tariffs and always was? If so, your network definitely stands out from the crowd.0 -
I agree completely that something isn't umlimited if they give you a number you can't exceed. 'Fair use' is reasonable, but if they give you a number, then it's a limit. I thought the get-out with respect to data, at least, was that they will never charge you for going over - just restrict your access speed.
If you are on an UNLIMITED text plan, you should NEVER be charged for normal texts. They may be within their rights to cut you off for violating the terms of your contract, but they should contact you and tell you this, or give you a chance to cut down.
On a side note, T-mobile used to have 'fair-use' limits on their unlimited plans which increased the more you paid!! It seems all plans were unlimited, but some were more unlimited than others.0 -
Mobile Phone Jargon ;
Unlimited = limited (see fair use limit)
Upgrade = less than before
No extra charges = extra charges
Insurance = throwing money awayBe happy...;)0
